BVC addon - Had to bank points

Hi Friends, I am confused about what DVC told me yesterday. We had bought 250 points this past May, but after reading the boards and reflecting on what our future plans are, we decided to add another 100 points. I called to do this and asked if I could add on in our original use year (month), Febuary. We could, but we can only bank half the points. They offered to buy all of them at $5 a point, but that sounded like a poor deal. I kept asking why we couldn't bank them all as we are just buying them? I am still not clear of the answer. I even called back and asked again...he said we are 7 months out even though we are just buying them. Does this seem unfair to you?
We don't plan on another vacation this year. I guess we could give them to our son who is planning a trip to Orlando in December..

We ran into this problem when we added on a VWL membership last October. We have a February use year, and were told the same thing.

A very helpful CM at MS told me to contact my sales agent and have him submit an "exception." He was skeptical, but it worked out.

I was assured that this is not the "one time exception" that we're allowed over the life of our membership.

With a February use year, your 100% banking deadline is July 31. Between August 1 and October 31, you can bank 50% of your total points. Up to November 30, you can bank 25%. You can't bank any in December or January.

Do you just want to bank the 100 additional or the whole 350? You should be able to bank up to 175 total at this point. If you already banked the 250, then you're maxed out.

I would contact your guide. I've heard of them making exceptions for new buyers. A friend was offered a HH add-on near the end of her use year a year or two ago (guide called her) and was able to bank them.
