I DID IT!!!!!
I ran today! Thanks to my teammates for your support - I absolutely could not have gotten back out there without all of you with me. And believe me, I think every one of you were with me on the greenway at some point or another. Especially
Jill and
Leslie - I used your idea and picked a local park that has a half-mile loop, figuring I'd start with one lap and see how it felt and go from there. I ended up doing 3.7 miles! And
Anne, how's this for negative splits? 13:23, 11:51, 11:31 (I walked the first lap and the last one, so the last .7 was actually 10:42) I was aiming for around 12:00-13:00 miles, but apparently felt better than I thought!
So there's a 5K Saturday that I'm going to register for as long as I can walk tomorrow - want to make sure there's no hidden damage, but everything feels really good now. My ankle started hurting around 1.5 miles, but I ignored it and started really concentrating on my form and it went away.
Chris - It seems that Ohio has really gotten the worst of the winter this year. Wish I could send you some of our weather. One of the reasons I felt like I HAD to run today was the 60+ degree weather and sunshine! And it's supposed to be like this all week...
Wendy - If I only got iced tea on the days I ran, I'd be dead. Since I don't drink coffee that's my only caffeine fix and it's the only thing that keeps my blood flowing! Maybe a milkshake from Cookout? Or is that somehow a total contradiction... Looks like I'll be signing up for Raleigh Rocks now since I blew off Crystal Coast!
Jill - Congratulations on winning state!
Kathy - I found that bandwagon too. Bought lots of fruit last night at the grocery store. I don't like fruit, so it's a big step for me! Took apples, pineapple, grapes, and clementines to work today!
Gotta go fix dinner before DD pokes her head out of her room to say "what's for dinner?"
