We just learned that Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin will be closed for refurbishment during our trip! We are so disappointed, as it is our favorite attraction -- and is especially so for our 4 y.o. son.

I knew you on the boards would understand how frustrated we are... so I am posting here to vent!!

Test track will also be closed in that same time frame, and Splash Mountain is down for about a week end of January. My vacation falls in the period where all 3 are down. BUMMER!

Just more reasons to go back to WDW again soon! ;)

Are both Buzz and Test Track closed the whole month of January!!!??? Or is it just some dates?

Here's what I pulled from All Ears Net. It didn't mention Splash Mountain. Where did you hear that?

January 2006

Disney-MGM Studios

'50s Prime Time Cafe will be closed much of January for rehab, from about January 7 until January 28, 2006.

Epcot

Test Track will be closed for refurbishment beginning January 9, 2006 through February 14, 2006.

Magic Kingdom

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin will be closed for refurbishment January 4 through Wednesday, February 8, 2006.

Country Bear Jamboree will be closed to remove the holiday show from January 3 through January 7, 2006.

Liberty Square Riverboat will not be sailing until Mid-2006 due to an extensive rehab.

Water Parks

Typhoon Lagoon will be closed for annual rehab from December 25th, reopening spring 2006.

Holy Mackeral! That is terrible!!
I'm glad we are going in Dec. My 8 year old son would be upset if he missed Buzz Lightyear ride AND Test track!

We are going in January for DS's 3rd birthday. :bday: We took him this past May and he hasn't stopped talking about Buzz since. He doesn't know yet that we are going but I can't imagine how upset he is going to be when we get there and he can't ride Buzz.

But as someone else said, just more of a reason to go back soon! :)

Splash Mountain will be closed for only a few days, towards the end of the month.

Oh yes...very disappointed! However, we are going to try and pull off leaving a day early. We are presently scheduled to arrive on the 4th. I know that probably belongs in the "You know you are a Disnut when..." LOL!

Our first day in the parks this trip will be on the 3rd. We're going to try and hit Buzz sometime that day. We'll probably be one group out of many trying to get in a few zaps before the close down...

What site is the book of record? The Disney site makes no mention of refurbs for Test Track or Buzz Light Year in January or February 2006. However it does mention Splash Mountain.

From Disney site>
Splash Mountain®: Closed for Refurbishment [January 23, 2006 to January 27, 2006].

I'm hoping Disney site is the book of record as we are going in February and Test Track and Buzz Light Year were on our list of attractions not to miss.

jeff, i was going to post the same thing... just went and checked park hours and the operational updates did NOT list buzz lightyear ride as closed at all during january... i had read on a few unofficial sites that it would be, but was pleasantly surprised to see wdw.com does NOT have it listed... here's what they've got:

View the monthly calendar
Magic Kingdom® January 2006

Liberty Square Riverboat: Closed for Refurbishment [January 1, 2006 to January 31, 2006]
Splash Mountain®: Closed for Refurbishment [January 23, 2006 to January 27, 2006]

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Just FYI: The CM web site has Buzz listed as Refurb January 4-Feb 8 and Test Track Jan 9- Feb 14 (as well as the Splash Rehab Jan 23-27)... Not sure why the WDW site is not updated, but the CM info has been.

As much as we will be disappointed that the ride is closed, hopefully it will have all the little problems fixed. The past few times we have ridden it, something was wrong. Several times the guns won't shoot and once the entire car wouldn't spin. It can be quite frustrating when you significent other gets a higher score than you because you can't play fair. ;)

The only "book of record" is the posted information at the front gate of the theme parks on the day-of.

I must be crazy...I just added a day so we could have the chance to play w/Buzz :cool1: :crazy2: Now mind you, we were already planning on extending it towards the last leg so this was not that much of a stretch, but still it did cause a slight increase to our airfare :earseek:

I called WDW and asked to speak to someone who could give me the right info. They transferred me to the transportation dpt. :confused3 I guess they run the rehab schedule because they had the info. It is indeed in their list of things to close. It will close as already stated, Jan 4 :guilty:

:sad1: I was so upset when I heard that Buzz would be closed! I was really looking forward to beating DBF...hee hee hee. And we're making sure to get to Epcot before the 9th, because if I had to miss TT AND Buzz, I don't know what I'd do!

I was going to say the same thing!! I am sorry it will be closed, BUT it really needs it badly. How about the cars that spin when you aren't moving the stick. It definitly isn't fair!! But even so we try to ride 4 or 5 times so it all evens out. :rotfl:

This is great news! When we were at the World in March, it was obvious Buzz needed an overhaul. It should be fixed up nice by the time we get there in April!

:teeth:
