o.k. I know this sounds extremely competitive, but every time we go to Disney my husband and kids beat me terribly on the Buzz ride. We are going in two weeks and this time I really want to kick their butts---I need help!!! What are your strategies for the ride. Thanks.

Hold the trigger continuously; don't pull and release it. This made a HUGE difference for me on our last trip. Yup, destroying the husband and kids on Buzz Lightyear was a highlight! Good Luck! :thumbsup2

I wish I knew!

We did this at least 5 times on our last trip. My scores varied from 600 up to 100,000. LOL! The previous poster had great advice though-hold the trigger down and don't let go.

Have fun!!!!

There are special targets that give you crazy point totals. Pay attention to your points and see how high they jump. Try to find the hard to see or difficult to get targets cause those usually have more points. For example, I think on the backside of the first robot is a high scorer. Try to stay away from the easy ones, cause those are usually lower points. Good Luck.:yay:

A few tips The back of the robots hands in room 1 are worth 100,000 hit the middle of the target. The volcano in room 2 worth 50,000 the botttom of zurgs ship in room three 100,000 but hard to hit it only when entering the room. the nine volt battery behind the ship is also 100,000 these are the only one a no for big points. There is also a target in the star room on upper right worth points but hard to find and hit you can see it if you look when you leave the room. hope this helps. also a website badshoes.com that has some tips.

My DH has maxed out the score even with me knowing where some of the big point targets are - he's just much better than me aiming.

One of the 100,000 point targets the inside of Zurg's palm (it's either Zurg or a big robot - I'll have to ask DH). Higher point targets are the ones where the boxes open up and other moving objects.

Good Luck! :)

I think it is the first room, just as you are headed into the next section there is a Z either on the ceiling or close to it. I still hit it when we enter the next room by turning around. The volcano room is great, the volcanp's are worth a lot and the many moving targets are as well.

As soon as I can start shooting, I shoot at the Z on the ceiling in the first room. I try to hit the back of the Robot's hand somewhere in the middle of the room. Then I try to hit the Z on the ceiling again a few times before I leave that room. But I will turn around and aim a few more times before I start aiming at the volcano. Hit it as many times as you can. In the next room start aiming at the 9v batteries (or all the batteries) before you turn around and hit Zurg at the bottom a few times if possible. I try to have about 800,000 or more before I leave the first Zurg. When you go through the tunnel room, aim at the spaceships on the wall. If you look carefully, you can see the targets when the space ships aren't there and still score. You need to have your high score before you get to the picture room because you can't control the chair and you can only get so many points there.

I usually get 999,999 points each time.

Good luck reaching Galactic Hero!!

This thread cracks me up! I hope you do manage to kick their butts in Buzz's SpaceRanger Spin. :thumbsup2 (Just don't, under any circumstances, ever breathe a word that you got any clues about how to bump up your point totals. All they ever need to know is mom's a gal of many talents.) :worship:

After many years of practice and listening to hints I maxed out my score twice the last trip and also scored over 900,000 another time. The back of the robots hand in room one is the first target to go for. The one that puts me over is the bottom of Zurg's pedestal in the third room. As others have said it is hard to hit because it is low and when you are in the middle of the room you can't depress your gun enough to aim for it. Get ready as soon as you enter the room and aim for the target bellow Zurg and just hold down the trigger. Then as you leave the room turn back and just keep shooting again. I knew I had to concentrate on my last trip when I heard my nephew had maxed out his last trip. This summer I will be at WDW with him so we'll see if we both can get top scores together.

Good Luck! I hope you beat the husband and kids! That's my mission, especially beating the DH :rotfl: The first time I went on the ride I scored over 100,000 but never since then. I have no idea what I did! But if I remember the tips here I should be in good shape ;)

Go for it, Mom! I beat everyone in my family all 4 times we went through last summer--all because of tips I'd picked up from browsing all these Disney sites!
(It sure did make me feel good that my DS9 wanted to ride that one ride with MOM every time--considering he wanted to ride everything else with Dad! In his words, "Mama, you blow Daddy out of the water on this ride!" :goodvibes )

I still haven't shared ALL my secrets with DH!

This is from All Ears--hope it helps you score big!!

READER TIPS! Pam Forrester writes: Remember to shoot for those targets high up and far away -- they are really worth big points.

Margaret Weatherford says: The cars at Buzz Lightyear will hold three smaller people but have only two guns. The first time I visited it I did not know this and sat in the middle between two teenagers, who did share a little, but as the grown-up I did not want to be selfish. For children it could be a real disappointment.

Tips for Scoring Big on Buzz:

In general, aim for targets far away for the most points. Also, things that are moving are worth more points than things that are stationary, and things that are down low, at hard-to-reach angles are worth more, too.

When you pass the robot on your left (the Rock'em Sock'em type Robot), spin your car around and try to hit the Z on the *back* of the robot's left wrist -- that's 100,000 points.

The top of the volcano is worth 100,000 points and it will erupt when you hit it.

In the battery room, try to hit the batteries on the bottom -- they'll fall over when you do, and some are worth 50,000 points. Also aim for the tiny batteries -- the smaller they are, the more points they're worth.

Also, after the robot, on your left there will be some creatures on the wall -- the spider is worth 50,000 points.

If you hit the moving wormlike creature that sways left to right that's on your right in the next room, it's worth at least 50,000 points.

It turns out if you hold the trigger of your laser down, you'll occasionally get 1,000 points even if you don't hit anything. When you're going through the red spiral light room, hold your thumb down for a few extra points.

In the room after that, the one with the animated rockets, follow the spaceships until they pause and aim for the Z on them -- if you look closely, you'll see a metal plate on the wall (there's one on each side) under the animation. Hitting those scores 100,000 points, too.

And the best way to score high is to ride alone. Don't let anyone else move the car around. You need full control of the car and the gun. At some points, the people in the cars behind you will think you are shooting at them. But you aren't; you're shooting just over their heads to get the big targets.
