Buzz Lightyear Photo Tip - FREE

We just returned from WDW and did a morning at MK (not early entry). We ran to Buzz Lightyear right at opening and rode it. We were the first ones on it and after riding it twice, I had my 3 boys ride together so we could buy the picture of the 3 of them. We went to the desk to purchase it, and were told that since we were the first family to purchase a picture on that ride that day, we got it for FREE! We had our choice of a 8x10, 2 5x7's, or a 5x7 and 4 wallets (which we chose)! ($20 value)

We thought the funniest thing was that this was our third time through the ride that morning! But...we got a cute certificate making us the honorary family of the day and the free photos and got to sign their guest book! Pretty neat! I don't know if they do this on every ride, but I saw in the book, they obviously did it each morning on this ride!

Just a suggestion for anyone who might be doing that ride early and want their photos!

I have a question: At what point in the ride do they snap the picture? The last time we were there they weren't doing the photos on Buzz Lightyear yet. I'd like to get a picture but want to make sure we aren't making any faces at the moment they take the picture.

They snap it in the last room that you can score points in. I think there's another room after that where your score is flashing but there's nothing to shoot at. It was REALLY obvious since these incredibly bright lights flash and blind you about 5 times during that room. We thought on our first time through (didn't know there were photos) that it was just Zurg trying to keep us from scoring as many points! However, we never figured out which of the 5 or so flashes was the actual one of "your" car, so I told the kids to just keep smiling, keep their eyes open and look at the flashes during the whole time in that room!

Thanks for that info, we'll try that next time. Wish we had known that before, we've bought over 6 pictures there, 2 each trip during the last year!
