Buying Toys this Holiday Season? Consider this...

As we know, it's always a good idea to have plenty of extra AA and/or AAA batteries on hand for the toys Santa brings.

Even if a toy comes with "batteries inculded", it's still a good idea to have good, reliable spares handy, as a lot of times, you have one of two problems with the original batteries:

• The toy has already been played-with so much (think talking toys) while sitting on the retail shelf, the batteries are significantly run-down
  
• Those same batteries are usually cheap, "mystery" name brands that are made overseas (and unlike Energizer and Duracell, are not made to last)

That is a good reminder. I always think about the gifts that I am giving and include batteries with the package (if it is leaving my house). For gifts staying in my house, I always buy big packages of batteries at BJs (36 packs or something) so I never have an issue with running out. But yeah, people might not think about that. One year I worked at a convenience store and we opened on Christmas evening, like 5 or 6 PM and we ran out of batteries SO fast it wasn't even funny, precisely because people forgot that some of the gifts would need them.
