Ok, I have been to WDW too many times to count but in 2005 I want to go to DL for my birthday. So, because I am a obsessive planner I started looking into buying things now. My question is how come you can not buy passes for Disneyland that don't expire? I usually buy parkhoppers way in advance in case the price goes up since they never expire. And where do you usually purchase DL passes? Disney store or over the internet?

Thanks for all your help!!

I suspect it's due to the fact that the majority of the people who attend are locals. Tickets that don't expire might affect their annual pass sales and there are a large number of annual pass holders. For that matter, it would affect their single day full price ticket sales as well.

Anybody else have any theories?

You can purchase your tickets at either place but there are sometimes specials over the internet such as 5 days for the price of 3. It's also been reported on this board that AAA has had specials that also include extras such as unlimited fast pass and either credits or tokens at ESPN in DTD. Since I'm a local, I never buy these tickets so it's best to let someone else answer the details on the AAA tickets. From past post, it also seems that not a lot of AAA agents are aware of these tickets so I would get the facts from someone on this board before calling AAA.

Actually, you can buy tickets a bit in advance. The "5 days for the price of 3" tickets don't expire until 2004. You'll probably be able to buy your tickets for 2005 early next year, but I would wait until there was a special such as the AAA tickets or the 2 days free tickets. The Disneyland tickets do expire 13 days after you first use them, though.

Some Disney stores don't carry Disneyland tickets (ours doesn't), so I usually buy mine online a couple weeks before we leave. Whatever you do, don't buy them at the gate! You can't get the specials there, and the lines are always long.
