buying tickets question

When Disneyland announces they will be raising ticket prices, does it happen immediately or is there a grace period?

We are going to DL in January. Ideally I would like to wait to buy tickets until my husband gets his bonus in December. If they announce tomorrow (for example) they are raising prices, can I buy at the current price the day they announce?

Additional question, I occasionally see "adults pay kids price" tickets. When do those normally come out?

I have read all the arguments why we should buy from a discount place, however we will be buying directly from Disney.

I hope that made sense.

I think it is immediate but not positive. I'm fairly certain Last Minute Travel has a grace period on their tickets until they run out of the older price tickets. Any reason why you don't want to buy from a discount place? I just bought our tickets from LMT and it was a breeze. I'm already all hooked with tickets on the Disneyland app.

The usually go up on a Sunday, and we usually hear the day before. Adults at kids prices happens occasionally through 3 party sellers, but hasn't been offered directly from Disney in years.

I know it's silly, but I want to be able to buy MaxPass immediately when I buy my tickets. I understand it's easy to add after you get in the park, but I don't want to deal with it. When I was there last year with just my daughter, I KNEW the first thing I should do when entering the gate is pull a FP, however I got so caught up in the "I'm at Disneyland!" feeling that I forgot until we got to the rope.

Even so, that should only have made a difference of five minutes in your return window. A couple of minute late start on MP doesn't put you at any disadvantage.

It didn't really make a difference, it's just that I don't want to have to think about buying MaxPass first thing through the gate.

If you want MP when you buy the tickets you have to buy directly from Disney. As far as Disney goes when they announce a price increase it is immediate. 3rd party sellers sometimes still have old stock they are allowed to sell off. 3rd party sellers also have discounts on tickets you won’t see front Disney.

Adults at the kids price is not a promo that DLR has seen in a looooong time. The only ticket promos have been SoCal residents discount tickets for off-season and this summer AP holders could buy friends single day tickets as long as they went to the park together.

You can get adults at kids prices sometimes with Get Away Today, but alas not from Disney. With Disney you're going to pay full price (obvi) and you'll have very little notice of the price increase. I'd advise paying close attention to boards like these and Disneyland blogs so you can maybe get a warning in enough time.

Hmm, follow up question. My daughter is going to school in Redlands. Is she eligible for Southern California prices? Is there a way I could see the prices without her signing up for an account. I understand she'd need to sign up to actually buy the tickets, can I see how much it would be? I'm looking at either 3 or 4 day park hoppers for Jan 10-13.

There are currently no Southern California discounts. When they come out, the prices will be announced. You won't have to use an account to see them. I don't think Jan 10-13 will have discounts anyway.

I don't find it silly at all. I was thinking about buying somewhere other than Disney for our next trip, but when I found out you can add MP at the time of buying directly from Disney, I changed my mind.

I also bought directly from Disney so I could have maxpass on all our multiple day family tickets without adding each day after entering the park. Besides the convenience I think there is a good chance the maxpass price will increase prior to our summer trip.

This is my plan. I usually buy through LMT though.

I know the feeling - this is why for my upcoming trip I suspect that I'm going to just buy straight from Disney so I can have Maxpass included with the ticket! (I'm also travelling from overseas and my cards are all non-US, and I don't want to deal with the risk of the app rejecting my non-US cards...)
