Buying tickets & linking to dvc rental

We are renting dvc points in march. I have not purchased tickets yet but need to do so as my fp+ time is approaching. I have not gotten magic bands. Am I supposed to be getting these in the mail if I rented points? I am told I can't call Disney & ask questions since I am not a dvc owner. So for tickets once I buy them am I given a code to link them to my MDE? I have MDE all setup with my rental reservation. I was thinking of buying tickets through undercover tourist cuz they are cheaper. Does linking them work the same? Do I have to wait to recurve something in the mail to activate them? Thanks in advance?

yes. have you logged on to MDE with your confirmation number to order them?

i think the only code is on the back of the tickets - or you can scan the back of the ticket with a smartphone.

yes.

i think so but not sure.

Yes. If you buy your tickets over the phone, they will give you a code and you can use that code to link your tix on your MDE account. They'll tell you to wait one day before doing it, though.

We're going on a DVC point rental in March as well. You will be getting Magic Bands, but not until a bit closer to your dates. I bought tickets through undercover tourist and had no trouble linking them to MDE. Just entered the code on the back.

This ^^. We rented for December 2013 and also purchased tickets from UT. The linking in MDE worked like it should.

As far as calling about your reservation when renting points, the official line is you need to have the owner make the call for you. But I called myself and add DME with no problem. All they wanted was my ressie number. If you feel you'd like to call about something, I say give it a try.

We rented points as well for this past trip - Jan. 3 to 7 2015. And then stayed offsite for a couple more nights. Our 6-day tickets were purchased at UT and linked to MDE. Everything went smoothly. Our magic bands arrived a few days before Christmas.

Your MBs won't go into shipment status until you're inside the 30 day mark until your reservation.

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get tickets once purchased from undercover tourist? I didn't know I had to have something shipped to me or I would of bought them by now & my 60 day fp+ Window starts 1/21/15 which is next Tuesday night! Thanks!!

It doesn't take very long. They will give you an estimate before you order and you can rush the shipping though that will probably wipe out any price difference between them and Disney.

Your dvc reservation should show up in your MDE. Have you set it up yet? If not, go ahead and do it and your ressie should show there. You will get magic bands just as any guest does, nothing different to do than any other guest to get them. Be sure to customize them by the date it lists in your MDE if you want a certain color or name inside them. They will ship at 30 days prior to your check in date. Linking works the same.

As far as calling the DVC Member number, I think it depends on who you get that answers the phone. A couple years ago, the member gave me the number and I called myself to add my ME. I tried that again the next year, well for my Xmas trip and they wouldn't help me at all even with my name on the ressie. I also called earlier tonight and they wouldn't help me at all. So, definitely depends on who you get. I would say try, but be aware there's a good chance they won't help you and you'll have to have the owner/dvc member do what you need done.

If you haven't ordered yet, I'd call first thing tomorrow and try to get them shipped right away! And, ask if they can give you the code if there is concern they won't arrive in time. I'd call and order the tickets over the phone instead of online so you can talk to someone about your order, timing, codes, etc. Good luck!

Seconding this experience. Ordering from Undercover Tourist and linking the tickets to MDE was the easiest thing in the world. We have a reservation made with rented DVC points and I just linked the tickets online.
