Buying Tickets at the Disney Store

Just wondering if this is a good idea.....we are going to WDW in January, and have heard they raise ticket prices usually in January, so was thinking of buying them at our local Disney store in December.........has anyone had any problems with tickets from there, like not working right or anything? It just seems hard for me to believe that tickets I buy here in Minnesota will work right in Florida. Thanks for the help! :wave2:

They just raised ticket prices a week ago, but that doesn't mean they won't raise them again in January. You can buy tickets at your local Disney store, but sometimes they won't have what you want (number of days, hopping, no expiry, etc.).

Our last few trips, I've purchased tickets in advance from www.undercovertourist.com. The prices were slightly discounted from WDW prices and they express mailed the tickets to me at no extra charge. I think you need to order a couple weeks before you leave. They have the whole myriad of different tickets.

Have a great trip.

I bought my nieces tix at local mouse store and it worked just fine. I've bought my AP vouchers there and had no issues. I would definately keep receipt though in case of problems. Plus MYW tixs bought at Local mouse are cheaper than wdw site prices but they only sell up to 7 day ones.

I work at TDS and they work fine. Enjoy your trip :goodvibes

I always buy my tickets there and Have never had a problem. You can add the additional days for the discounted price right in the disney restorts lobby if you need more that 7 Days. Keep your reciept just in case. The diseny store cast members will be more than happy to explain everything for you also. We are going in Late Jan and just bought the tickets.

Have fun

:tinker:

I bought ours there in January and they hadn't yet raised their prices even though WDW had raised ticket prices Jan. 1. It was probably around Jan. 22 when I bought them and they told me they had just gotten an email from WDW to raise ticket prices the next day.

I don't know if the store has raised prices as of Aug. 6 or if they are still selling them at pre-Aug. 6 prices. It might be worth it to check it out. I was in the store Aug. 5 and they didn't know when the new prices would take effect.

We bought ours at the DS and had no problems with them. Just used them a couple of days ago!

We've always bought our passes at the Disney Store also.

However we found out something on our last trip in October that caused a problem. The Disney Store is no longer affiliated with WDW, so you cannot make any changes to your passes at WDW. Example, we did not use all the days we'd bought so I went to the front desk of my resort (POP) and told them we'd like to pay to upgrade our passes to Non-Expiring. We had been told on the boards, by the cast member at the Disney Store, etc. that this was possible as long as the passes were current (w/in the 14 days after activation).

Anyway the cast member at the front desk told us this was not possible because they were not the same passes that were purchased at WDW.

So if you think you may need to alter your passes in any way, just be aware of this!

We upgraded ours in April that we had bought in Jan. at the Disney Store to AP's and didn't have any problems. We did it before using any of the days. We purchased 7-day PH's and we have one that we haven't used yet. We're leaving tomorrow and plan on upgrading to an 8-day PH at the resort.

If you purchase tickets at the disney store do you get the advance purchase price?

Yes you do, last I checked it is the same savings as you would get as you see on the website (however this was before the recent price increase... but I am assuming they are still the same).

But yes, even though the Disney Store is not owned by Disney any more, you CAN still upgrade tickets while at the parks with-in the first 14 days of the first use (and in fact, up until the last month or so, you could only add on the no exp option for most of the tickets at the park). I am sorry klwdisney that it happened to you, but that Cast Member you had talked to was mistakened.

But I do want to stress that if you do buy your tickets at TDS, make sure you check your receipt and make sure it has the correct amout of days/the options you want on the ticket BEFORE you leave the store. After you leave the store and your ticket is not the correct one you had asked for it is pretty much impossible to correct it until you get to the parks. This does not happen often, but even the best of TDS CMs will make a mistake once in awhile (even more so when all the pages the CMs scan look pretty much the same)

Actually, make sure you check days and everything before actually letting us run your card, once the tickets have been activated they are non-refundable and we cannot make any changes to them. Ask to view the pages as they are being scanned and make sure that the total we present you with is the total you expected, if there is a difference ask before you hand over payment. Like I said the tickets are not changable or refundable after they have been purchased.

Just an FYI, if you plan on staying in a Disney resort and want to utilize the Dining Plan you cannot buy your tickets at The Disney Store, you have to purchase them directly through the resort to get the Dining Plan.

I'm a manager for TDS, so PM me if you have any specific questions, I will be more than happy to do what I can to help you out!

Thank you for all the great information! :thumbsup2 I had no idea Disney doesn't own TDS anymore :confused3

Actually it was 2 cast members and a manager. I should add, however, that you CAN make changes to your tix in the parks, but not at your resort and when this happened to us this was the last night of our stay and so we could not make the changes since the parks were closed and we were leaving for the airport at 5 am in the morning!

So... to clarify my original post...
TDS is no longer affiliated with WDW. If you purchase tix at TDS and need to alter them during your stay at WDW before they expire, you have to make the alterations at the Parks or DD and NOT at your resort.

can anyone tell me how much it cost to add a day on to a 7day hopper making it a 8 day hopper. My DH is debating buying 7 day hopper at Disneystore and if he decides not to join us girls shopping take in parks another day.

I don't know exactly since we only sell up to the 7 day, but the difference between tickets days is usually less than 5.00, check the official site for definite prices.

If you buy your tickets at TDS are they a credit card type ticket oor are just like the flimsy paper tickets at the parks?

Also, if they are the sturdier CC type, how do they physically upgrade the ticket at the park. Do they issue a new ticket or just re-code the old ticket?

The ones for Disney store are hard plastic type, no idea on upgrading
