I have never purchased (edited: TICKETS! :) )with a gift card. If I am purchasing (through Disney) with a discount (alumni benefit, but same system as like the southern CA discount area) can I still use a gift card to pay? So I was thinking of buying a few of the $500 gift cards through Sam's, then using them to purchase at our already-discount. Would that work, does anyone know? Also, if I buy like 2 tickets at a time, can I use the $500 gift card and pay the remaining balance with a credit card?

Sorry, but I'm a little confused...what are you purchasing with the gift card? You can buy discounted gift cards (e.g., you can buy Disney Gift Cards at Target using a RED card and save 5%) and then use that gift card to buy things at Disneyland (e.g., tickets, food, souvenirs, etc.). However, you cannot use a Disney Gift Card to buy another Disney Gift Card at DLR.

Sorry I was confusing! I want to buy gift cards (probably at Sam's - I don't want to get a red card, and I want some BIG gift card - the $500 ones) and I want to use them to buy our tickets. But when I buy my tickets, it's through my college alumni site, for a discount. As long as it redirects through the Disneyland site (normal purchasing area, but a little cheaper than just clicking on "Disneyland tickets" and buying them normally), can I use my gift cards to pay for them? I was going to buy two tickets at a time, and use the $500 discount, plus play the difference with my credit card. Is there any reason this wouldn't work?

It sounds like you need to go through the process and see if there's an option to enter a gift card number when you get to the payment page. Also, FYI, you can combine Disney gift cards at https://disneygiftcard.com.

Ah, no worries!

As Angrose said, I think you're just going to have to go through the process to see if it works. Just note that some folks have reported having trouble using gift cards to purchase tickets when using the Disneyland.com website (see this thread). I would also recommend combining the gift cards as much as possible (although, Disney gift cards max out at 1,000 per card) because some folks have reported only being able to use one (or two) cards per transaction online.

I went through to check out, and the option is there. I saw that thread, I think. Has it been an ongoing problem, or just a recent one? We aren't planning to buy for a week or two at least, and have plenty of time to figure it out. I was just scheming... Buying 5 4-day hoppers, every little percentage we save definitely helps!

Not sure what the advantage of buying gift cards at Sams club is, unless its a cash back bonus type thing? I'm not a Sams member. As for Target Red, you can have it linked as a debit to your bank account- it does not have to be Red credit card. And, if you can enter Disney gift cards you should be fine. The problem is recent. I used gift cards in early March to buy my hoppers. And, because I bought them online with my Disney account, they are linked to the app. I'll still need tickets for fastpass in the park, but will not be fearful of losing my hard copy tickets since they are on my phone.

I didn't know they could link with the app. That's pretty cool. Good call to sign into my Disney account first. Hmm. Sam's Club has $500 gift cards for $475, so pretty much the same savings as Target. We will probably do one or the other, I guess.

Yes, I have used a link from a work discount headed to dlr site. I used gift card bought at target. I had to combine the gift cards into one at the official DL site for that.

Another tip to save an extra 2-4% on your purchases is to download the raise.com app

Purchase target gift cards at a discount from the raise app. Say $800 worth for $750. Then go to target.com and buy Disney gift card with the REDcard discount of 5%.

You can then use that gift card and go through your special link on the Disneyland website and buy your discounted tickets with your Disney gift cards.

Thanks for the experience and suggestions! :-)
