Buying resale when you already talked to DVC?

We spoke with our DVC guide many, many times before buying 300 points at OKW through TTS. We passed ROFR on the first try (in fact, the seller wanted $75 per point and we offered and passed on $73 per point).

Sounds like a rumor to me.

Maybe FIL needs to push harder. Whoever he talked to, that agent seemed to sound pretty adamant that all he was selling was SSR and that BCV was sold out. When FIL said he was only interested in BCV, the agent on the other end of the line was dead silent.

Maybe I need to have FIL talk to my DVC rep...maybe this referral might do something...you know squeaky wheel getting the grease and what not.

He needs to switch guides. When I made it clear to our guide Bernard that we were interested in BWV and only BWV, he found the points that same day

DFIL talked to DVC about buying at BCV (he is not a current member.) He didn't talk to me before hand or I would have told him that they won't sell sold out resorts to new members.

Not true. They'll push SSR, but they'll sell you something else if you push back. There might not be any points available at BCV, but points seem to be readily available at all the other DVC resorts. (And of course, new members buying through DVC are subject to the 150-point minimum regardless of where they buy.)

We took a tour (they were selling BCV) and then bought VWL resale. The guide who took us on our tour was then assigned to be our guide. No problem.

Sub SSR for BCV and same story. No problems with ROFR but our guide is still the one we toured with.

Initially I spoke to a DVC guide but later purchased a resale (I didn't care for my guide's attitude) with no problem. I've since purchased two more resales without a hitch.

We own points at BWV, VB, and SSR and never have a problem getting into any DVC resort we want on rather short notice (live in Fl and go on impulse). If your worried about having that eleven month window versus the seven month we see it as a non-issue.

We have gone direct through DVC and done resales. Our guide could careless . Find the lowest priced resale and buy them regardless of where it is.
