Buying Resale Questions

I am hoping to buy a resale right now, and we are not current DVC members. We are looking at resales that are less than 150 points (there's just the 2 of us right now, so studios are okay). We may increase our points eventually, but this is our way of jumping in slowly.

At any rate, can anybody confirm that we can purchase under 150 points on the resale market and not have any problems doing this with Disney? I thought I have read that you can, but I just wanted to double check.

Also, have people had their sales rejected by Disney recently? If you don't mind sharing, can you tell me what property and price your sale was rejected for? I know Disney can be unpredictable, but I thought maybe this would give me an idea of what is going on with their right of refusal lately.

Oh, and one more question. We have been down there and done the tour several times, and I know we are assigned a Guide in the Disney system. If you buy resale do you keep the guide you have in the computer or do you pick up the guide who the seller of the property had? Just curiuos.

Any info would be helpful. Thanks much!

There is no minimum number of points you are required to purchase on the resale market, however as you have noted, Disney has ROFR on any resale transaction, so they could always snatch up a smaller contract if they wanted to.

We never had a guide when we purchased our first resale; Disney assigned one to us shortly thereafter.

Good luck!

Yes, you can buy a resale of less than 150 points.

You can do either; if Member Services looks you up using your phone number the guide you interacted with at Disney will probably show up on their computers. If they look you up by the contract number of your resale then the guide who sold your resale to the original owners will show up (this is what happened in my case). If you have a preference for one or the other just let MS know, or if you want a totally different guide they can assign you one.
