Buying Question

thinking about buying from the timeshare resales..bwv...is it really worth it? how happy are you if you've been there done that...we usually like to go to wdw more than once a year, dh really wants this, I'm just trying to get convinced.

It's worth it if you would pay to stay on property, not do long weekends and not do much or any "trading". It's also best if you don't finance it.

Also worth it if you've been staying at a moderate or deluxe Disney resort every year....and would like to stay in much nicer accommodations for a comparable (or lower) cost.

Have you seen a DVC villa? Next time you're at WDW, take the tour and my guess is that's all the convincing you'll need.

It isn't for everyone. Just had a long talk with a friend who was looking into it....but it made no sense for them. They are happy staying at the All Stars - or even offsite.

I think if you are making the decision from purely a budget standpoint (what is the cheapest way to go) DVC isn't a good option. If you are looking to save some money on what you've been sticking into Deluxe resorts, DVC can be a good option, but you need to be aware that you do "get what you pay for." You will be giving up daily maid service and fresh towels every day (not something most DVC members - including myself - miss). I wouldn't say the accomodations are "much nicer" They are nice in different ways than the Deluxe rooms. For instance, if you stay in a BCV studio, you will get a fridge and microwave, but don't expect a view of the lake. The studios over at VWL are much bigger than the rooms over at WL, but no option for bunkbeds and expect a hike to Roaring Forks or the main pool. Whether this is a big deal to you or not depends on you.

DVC is the best bet if your vision of regular family vacations at Disney includes a vision of the kids sleeping a room away from you!
