Can anyone help me out with some information on what I would need to do to buy points? I am not a member of the Vacation Club so I believe someone would have to make the reservation for me. Do I just post on the Rent/Trade board the dates, place and points I need and wait for someone to contact me? What else do I need to do and/or what is the process I would need to follow?

Thanks for the help. New here, this board is very good and has some great Disney information.

Hi and welcome to the DIS boards. Yes, you will have much more luck if you post over on the DVC Rent/Trade board. Just tell them what you need/want and if someone is able to help you, they'll get back to you...good luck.

go look and see if you can get a better detail by looking around.

sometimes you can find a sale $9 instead of $10 to $12 by looking.

Epecially if you are going in the next couple of months.

also be sure to read Doc's FAQ - you need a reservation - make sure you have a reservations not just points...

I will take a look at the FAQ's. The person that I buy the points from makes the reservation for me, correct? Is there anything else I need to do after the reservation is made besides pay the person I bought the points from?

I'm renting too and yes the owner makes the ressie for you. All you need to do is pay the owner. If you want the dining plan make sure you have the owner ask for it on the ressie b/c it has to be on there before you check in.

Thanks! Are the dining plans worth it or are they more of a convenience so you dont have to pay cash everywhere? Is there a discount to the owners or the same price for everyone?

Thanks for all this great information! Great people on this board!

A dining plan is only worth it if you intend to have a table service or (sit down full service dinner )every night of your vacation. Many with small children do not do this but if you can it can certainly save you money if you pick the right restaurants (check out the board designated to that) My DF and I love the dining plan and couldn't imagine our WDW vacation without it now. However DVC owners will not get this privilige until April 1st so if you are booking before then you can't get it. There are no discounts for owners and it is the same price for everyone each day which I think is about $38 right now. It includes one counter service, one table service, and one snack per person per day. Hope this helps

Ok. My kids are 8 and 11 and we plan on going in August. They are not huge eaters but love to go out and eat so maybe getting the dining plan for just me and my wife and paying cash for the kids would be best. They will eat things like spaghetti, cheeseburgers, etc. Things that maybe wont give me the value of the dining plan.

What do you mean about DVC owners not having this privilege until after April 1st? I was planning on booking in the next month so that I make sure I get the hotel I want and just have it planned.

You have to get the dining plan for all members of your party for all nights that you are staying. The dining plan is less per day for children but I don't remember how much. You can book and request the dining plan but what I meant is if your stay occurs in this month or next you cannot get the dining plan. However the dining plan becomes available to DVC members April 1st.

Ok. Thats even better that its less for kids. I will look into it to try and find the pricing and since we are going in August we should be able to get them. Thanks for all the info, its been great!

Your welcome! PM me if you need any more help

Definitely go to the DVC boards. I was new to this too and they were so great with all the info they gave me!! You can add on dining and DME after your reservation. The DVC member should have all the info for you and let you know what you need to do after the reservation is made for you. Good luck!

Renting points is a good deal, also you pay no taxes. But watch out it can get you hooked on DVC. I did and now own and am very happy about it.

Thanks for all the great info. I have been looking on the boards also for discount tickets. Is there such a thing? I joined the mousesavers site that someone mentioned but I just missed this months mailing. Any other places to check for park ticket discounts?

not with her discounts.

she will do another email next month generally around the 15th.

oh she asks you not to post her sites.
