Buying Points for 2BR at BCV Oct 07

I am looking into taking my family to Disney in October (close to Halloween) and have a few questions about how to go about purchasing points for a 2BR villa at BCV.

1. Does anyone know when the Halloween celebration starts

2. What is the earliest time that I can make the reservation/buy points for this reservation. Is it 11 months in advance if I find someone willing to sell BCV (home resort) points? 9 months if not the home resort?

1. Usually starts in early October, maybe as early as the very end of September.

2. A member can make a reservation at their home resort 11 months out. For Oct 1, that would be Nov 1 (already passed). A member can make a reservation at any DVC resort that is not their home at 7 months out. For Oct 1 that would be Mar 1.

If you want to travel next October, you need to know that this time frame is booking up quicker than in the past due to the Food and Wine Festival. There is also a pro golf tournament sometime in October. If you purchase points through resale, it takes about 6-8 weeks to finalize your contract and make your first reservation. If you purchase through Disney directly, (provided there are points available for BCV), you can make a reservation almost immediatly. From what I understand, it is getting difficult to make a reservation for the Beach Club Villas 7 months in advance during this time of year. I tried to book the Beach Club Villas in March for this Thanksgiving and was only able to get 3 of the 8 days that I wanted. :

Bit of confusion here. Are you talking about buying a DVC contract or renting from a DVC owner?

As stated above, you are on a short time frame if you are looking at BCV for next October. BCV is very near the entrance to Epcot, and for that reason books very early for the food and wine festival which is going on there all through October. Since the 11 month booking window has already past, some types of units might already be heavily booked, but if you want a 2 bedroom, I'd start looking now if you are talking about renting. If you are talking about buying a resale, it will be luck of the draw if a contract shows up in time for you to book what you are looking for. If not, there are lots of other DVC resorts to stay in that are as nice or nicer than BCV....just not located so close to Epcot.

thanks everyone for such a quick response. I am looking to rent points to buy a 2BR villa for a week in October but I am flexible to the week we go. I think it equates to 282 points?

Sounds like this is a pretty busy time at the BCV huh? Will there be people renting points 11 months in advance in order for me to make a reservation early??

Any other suggestions for resorts taking into account that we have 3 very young children (5.5, 4.5, and 3 at time of travel)?

If you plan on going early in October 07, you are already past the 11 month timeframe. If you want this, you really need to post a request as soon as possible on the Rent/Trade Board.
