Buying PH tix at Wal Mart?

Has anybody bought PH tickets at the Wal Mart in Kissimee (next to Medieval Times)? Mousesavers has it listed so I e-mailed Wal Mart for the prices. We need 5 day hoppers (not plus) and they sell them for $230/adult and $185/child. We would really prefer to not put our tix on credit card but would like at least a little bit of a $$$ break...this seems to be the way. But I wondered if anybody has had good or bad experiences buying tickets at Wal Mart.

We did this last year and found that the savings weren't worth our time. When we got to the park the tickets were actually cheaper. I think that this had something to do with it being right after 9/11. There is really nothing to say about the experience ... we just walked in and told them what we wanted and they gave it to us. Something to note though is that they don't sell every type of ticket that Disney offers, only a select few. I can't remember which PH we got, but they didn't have exactly what we wanted. The store is nice. I can't remember if there are one entrances or 2, but as you face the store go into the entrance on the right and make a left when you get into the store. The ticket sales are right there. It is a super Walmart if you didn't know so you can also get groceries there.

We didn't have them even mailed to us either- just picked them up at the gate on our way in.

Why would that be a discount to get them for $230?

Sorry you are confused by posts like mine, The Sybah Shelstah, but if I had known about the $217 ticket then I probably wouldn't consider $230 a fair price.

Maciec, I did call this morning and they say they do have the passes we are looking for...I hope they do this Thursday! It's a pain not being able to order from the online places, but in an effort to keep our finances under control we really try to avoid putting anything on credit card. Although it does seem odd using the phrase "keep our finances under control" 3 days before we leave for Disney LOL!

I think the price of $217 quoted on disneyworld.com is without tax. The taxed price would be $230.02, if ordered and placed on a credit card before the trip. If I understand Sheilap's dilemma, it is where to get the best price once she arrives in Orlando. Disney's gate price on 5-day hoppers is $242.74, making Wal-mart's price similar to Disney's advance-purchase price, without actually having to purchase in advance. We were faced with a similar situation 2 years ago(when I was using my free-through-DH's-work Magic Kingdom Club card for discounts) when I tried to purchase a 4-day hopper for my neighbor a week before our trip. Our Disneystore did not carry the 4-day, and we could not take a chance on ordering so late. I called around and found that Wal-mart carried the 4-day with a discount equal to the Magic king. Club discount, so that's where we purchased them once we arrived. The hoppers worked fine and looked just like the 5-day hoppers I had purchased for my family through Disney. The only inconvenience was arriving at the Wal-mart near Med. Times to find the travel store closed, even though we were there during their stated hours. The manager told me the travel store is operated much like the optical, hair, etc. stores located in other Wal-marts, and he had no control over the fact that they should have been open but were not. He did call the Sand Lake road store, and they were open, so we purchased there.

I checked the link that you posted (thank you!), but the $217 is the advance purchase price, which I can't do without putting it on the credit card, plus you have to add 6.5% tax...that brings you to $231.10. In order to not put them on credit card I would have to pay $229 + tax. Wal Mart's price of $230 includes tax, and I can pay cash.

We are staying at Windsor Palms at the end of January and try to do some our shopping at WalMart. Have always gone to the one on Rt 192, is there a closer store? Where is the WalMart on Sand Lake road? Thanks Julie

I honestly don't remeber how we got there(the directions came from the mgr. of the Wal-mart on 192), but it involved taking I-drive to John Young Pkwy. to Sand Lake Rd. He gave us very good directions---I just don't remember them very well. I don't think it is any closer...it seemed closer to Orlando than Lake Buena Vista/Kissemmee, but it was easily accessible from I-4. Perhaps someone else could help.Sorry.

I don't know why you are asking about the Sand Lake WalMart, but if it is for buying tickets I don't think all WalMarts sell them. Mousesavers just mentioned the one next to Medieval Times. Just an FYI...

Both Wal-mart locations(Sand Lake Rd. and 192) had a travel store that sold tickets in June, 2001. I, too, was told that only select stores had travel agencies, and only the stores in Orlando sold Disney tickets.

I'm sorry for the confusion. I did not mean I was confused by posts like YOURS about a discount... I was confused because after posts like that everyone else would act like it was a discount also- yanno? I'm sorry if I offended you, I assure you that wasn't my intentions.

However, now I have sure got my answer! Duh.. it's got tax added on it afterwards. I was thinking the prices mentioned (like from Walmart/etc) were with tax addtl but for some reason was thinking disneyworld.com's prices were with tax already. What can I say... I'm an insomniac and a bit sleep deprived. Can I atleast claim "mommy brain" on this one and be forgiven?

Atleast now I know not to be confused by threads like this. LOL

(oh and I also understand not wanting to put things on the credit card. Sometimes I forget how we used to be the same way- but now I use our debit/credit card and it comes out of our checking account- instead of adding up a CC debt- so to me it's like using cash or writing a check- yanno? I forget the whole world isn't me though. HAHA)

I was actually hoping that the Sand Lake WalMart was closer to the Formosa Gardens area than the one on 192. Last year it seemed to take almost 25 minutes from Formosa Gardens/Windsor Palms area to the 192 WalMart.

We bought 4 day hopper a couple of years ago. It worked well. Prices were the same as AAA but we could get 4 day versus 5. Disney's advance prices seem about the same.
