In terms of future years, you'll have to adhere to the traditional banking deadlines for your Use Year. Caskill's Vacation Planner program is good to help you keep track.
This really irritates me, although I'm glad for you. When we last added on 200 points in Sept of '04 with an OCTOBER use year, we closed on Sept 7, and were told by the guide and MS, and DVC accounting that we could not bank the '03 points that were current with the contract. We lost those 200 points.Debbru said:We just recently added on points at BWV thru DVC with a June UY. We were on the waiting list and our points came thru on May 26th. We got the '05 points and were allowed to bank them immediately, 5 days from the end of the UY.
In fact when I called MS to see if the points were in our account, the first thing she said was "Let's get these points banked, you obviously won't be using them in the next 5 days!"

*elaine* said:I just bought 200 BWV points with an August UY from Disney on Friday, June 9th. My guide told me that I would have to use the 200 '05-06 points by 7/31 or lose them. I posted about it at the other DVC board and Tony Greenbanned, who also posts here, pm'd me to let me know that wasn't the case.
I called Monday, June 12th, to talk to MS about it and make my first reservations, after worrying all weekend about what to do with the 200 points. The first thing the MS representative said to me when she pulled up my account was "Do you want to bank those points? We always lift the banking restriction for new members?"
So, my guide told me the WRONG INFORMATION. MS will let NEW MEMBERS bank the points that come with their contract if they buy from Disney.
Mr. Disney 652 said:We just added on Tuesday, and will complete paperwork after July 1. Our use year is August, and we were given the 2005 full add on points and the new 2006 ones in August. Because there is only 30 days left in '05 use year, they are making banking exceptions...so we got all the points plus the next year.
Also, DVC waived the '05 dues for the added points. Something to keep in mind w/your guide.
Thank heavens I wrote her name down!ToddnLiz said:Noname70,
I would suggest that you get the name of the Member Service representative that *elaine* spoke to (since we know that person has banked points for an owner) and call that person to clarify whether or not you will be able to bank the points. It seems there is a disconnect between what the Guides are telling owners (and soon to be owners) and what the the MS representatives are telling owners. Please let us all know what the MS representative tells you. Good luck.
*elaine* - I would also like to get the name of the MS rep that allowed you to bank the 05 points. That way when we finally get our points I'll be able to ask for that person. Thanks.
Todd
Even based on total points owned, I shouldn't have been able to bank 2005 points that I just bought. We have 180 2005 points we just banked and 330 total owned points.DebbieB said:Keep in mind that the banking percentages are based on the total points owned, not just the ones added on.

When I added on at VWL earlier this year the fees were pro-rated from when I got the points in my account which happened about 24 hours after I gave my CC info to my guide. Closing occurred more than a month later and I was billed for the fees at that time but based on the amount I was charged, the fees were pro-rated starting on the date I got the points.Inkmahm said:Same here. We just added 180 points with Oct UY at VWL and were able to bank all 2005 points. Fees will be prorated for 2006 from our closing date on.
No, I'm sure you are correct and I typed the wrong thing. It will be from when I got the points on that I pay the fees. In my mind, I closed as soon as I paid for the points although I know the official closing isn't until later.LisaS said:When I added on at VWL earlier this year the fees were pro-rated from when I got the points in my account which happened about 24 hours after I gave my CC info to my guide. If you were told something different (and are billed based on your closing date) please let me know! Either I am due a refund, or you are going get a bigger bill than you were expecting. Thanks!
I would have preferred that you were correct since I might have had 4-6 weeks of dues coming back to me. But it does make sense that the dues would be pro-rated from the day we have use of the new points.Inkmahm said:No, I'm sure you are correct and I typed the wrong thing.
