buying new leather furniture?

We can use leather furniture by taking some precautions of using it like scratching, away from instrumental tools etc.,.Hard leather with high pigmented quality will be preferable for this criteria of using furniture especially in homes with small playing kids.

We love our leather sofa. Would never go back to fabric especially with kids and pets. It's easy to clean and you can get one that's really comfortable. I have to say, it can feel a little cold in the winter.

We have a Flexsteel sofa we purchased from a friend who was selling. We LOVE it. It is not leather, but still cost her almost $2000 just for the sofa, so it may not be in the price range the OP is looking for.

I would look at Costco. Several friends have been quite happy with their purchase of leather from Costco.com.

Flexsteel is probably a good brand for that price range. You'll want to do a local search for stores that sell it, and of course get a couple dealers to price match/beat each other. We got a Flexsteel sofa and I am pretty happy with how it looks and has held up so far with two kids and two (albeit smaller) dogs.

We have a dark green leather set from LaZBoy in our family room that is almost 14 years old and in perfect condition with the dogs and BOYS. I kind of wish it would have issues so we would have an excuse to replace it! But, DH does use a leather cleaner and conditioner on it at least once per year, usually every 6 months. It has kept it very nice and soft. Leather is more work.

I am not sure I would recommend LaZBoy anymore.....their stuff is assembled in China now and just doesn't seem to be the same quality.

I would try to find Natuzzi leather. It holds up great and the quality is top notch! I would try Macys or Costco and stay far away from Value City.

Our leather sofa and loveseat came from Broyhill about nine years ago. They were over $2000 then, but even with heavy use they still look brand-new today (and they're a pale sand-colored leather). They were a good buy.

I don't think I'd go for the blended leather thing. I'd be concerned that the two types of material would age differently and would look bad after a while.

This isn't something to skimp upon -- you're going to live with it a while. Save a little longer, if necessary, but don't compromise quality.

leather with several kid's?
hmmm. not my first choice. Be prepared for scratches and maybe a rip or two from belt buckles, zippers on jean legs, pencils in pockets etc... Don't put it in the sun because of fading.
We have none of that, and our leather set is in our family room, which gets heavy use. We have no animals indoors, but we do have two teenaged girls -- and they were small kids when we bought this set.
