Has anyone ever used their aeroplan miles to purchase disney tickets? We never use our miles and have enough for an adult MYW+PH so we thought we would get it and then trade it in for an AP. When we called the agent wanted to know when our first day of use would be...I've never heard this before and don't want to get a dated ticket?! She didn't seem to understand why we were questioning her.Any advice?

I ordered the passes over the air miles internet site, so no questions asked. Received the pass about 10 days later by mail, no problem. Try it that way if you're concerned

We usually do the airmiles route - much simpler. But it's aeroplan miles that we have plenty of that we'd like to use.
Has anyone used aeroplan miles like this before?

It's an outrageous waste of points, but if you've got lots of miles that you aren't going to use then you might as well go for it.

They are asking for the date of first use because they are probably giving you a voucher that you trade at guest services for the actual ticket. That's what we got when we redeemed some rewards points for tickets. The tickets themselves won't be dated.

Thanks - I know it's a crazy amount of miles to trade but the miles are just sitting there and we have rarely added to it for the last couple of years so it feels like a waste not to use them.
Do you know if the voucher has an expiry date if we decide to hold on to it for another trip?

I would echo the poster who has made the suggestion that redeeming Aeroplan points for MYW tickets is an outrageous waste of points.

For 35,000 points you can purchase a 7 day child's MYW park hopper. It's 39,000 points for an adult 7 day ticket. To purchase one of these tickets through Ticketmania would be $223 US for the child's ticket and $255 for the adult ticket.

For 40,000 points you could purchase a round trip ticket in business class, departing Toronto for Los Angeles on July 1st and returning on July 8th. Yes, this reward is displayed as available on the Aeroplan website. This gives you full access to the Maple Leaf Lounge before flights, full meal service on the flight, and complimentary alcohol on the flight. Before taxes, if purchased through Air Canada, this flight would cost $3010. Total cost to the person redeeming for this reward would be $124.82 CDN.

Indeed, redeeming Aeroplan points for MYW tickets is an outrageous waste of points.

As far as I can tell, the OP is aware that it is a costly use of points...he/she just wants to know more about the process of ordering the ticket. We used our aeroplan miles to "purchase" a park hopper ticket very recently (and do not regret the frivolous use of points:rotfl: ) and if I recall correctly, I don't remember there being an expiration date on the voucher. You may not be able to order them online however...I know this was an option previously, but for whatever reason when they reduced the miles required, they changed the order options so that you can only call in the order. Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

Oh boy,

Sorry to hijack OP but am I excited. I phoned aeroplan a couple of months ago and they said they don't trade for MYW tickets. And I couldn't find it on the website so I thought, "guess not".

So it's true? Yeah.

Awaiting more info.....
