Buying multiple contracts

We are looking into purchasing DVC and are trying to figure out what would work best for us. We were considering buying 50-75 points at VGF through DVC and if we decide we needed more points in the future, buying a resale contract elsewhere. Are you able to combine these points? Say we bought a 150 point contract else where, could we use 225 points at VGF?

You can combine them but not until the 7 month mark.

All points are only good at their own resorts from 11 to 7 months. After 7 months points are points. You could book a split stay at 2 separate home resorts at 11 months.

It usually works best to buy the resale contract first then the high end add on. You won't be able to buy less than 100 pts I believe otherwise. You will not likely have a lot of luck using non VGF points for VGF in most situations.

We did the walk through on Tuesday and they made it sound like we could do 50. I'll look into it, thanks!

I don't believe I chewed anyone out. I may have made a statement it was a bad idea in a given situation that may or may not have applied to you. I make every effort to address the principle or situation and not the person.

The minimum direct right now is 50 points. Including VGF.

I remember when the minimum was 160 for the longest time. I think that it was 200 at one point.

IIRC 230, 210, 190, 150 then back up to 160.
