Can I purchase any amount of points thru Disney? Say like 54 points? Or does it have to be 50 or 60 points? We already own 180 points at AKV and 54 more will enable us to get a 1 bedroom every May, the time we like to go.
Thanks for the help!!

You could buy 54. I've purchased add-on amounts like 33, 42, etc.

There is just a minimum of 25 (if paying cash) or 50 (if financing).

Thanks DVCMike!!
I'd love to add on this year some time. Our family went to WL in May 2007 (before we became members) and I'd love to add on there. Do you know if disney has points for sale, instead of going the resale road. It would be nice to get the same UY!

Depending on your Use Year, Disney may or may not have points immediately available.

I have added on 14 times with my March UY, and I only had to wait-list one time, and the wait was only 4 weeks! That was for BCV last year.

It's so quick and easy! I call my guide in the morning or send her an email, and the points are in my account that same day.

Since I just bought today, I get the full Mar 2007 points which I then immediately banked, plus I'll get Mar 2008 points in less than a month. Even though you may be past your banking window, you can still bank new point add-ons. Thus, I got Mar 2007 point but only had to pay about 1 month's worth of annual maintenance. Plus -- no closing costs!

We have a March UY also. I have a good feeling I'll be calling my guide very soon! Thanks again for the help!

A quick question. I see you have point from various resorts. May I ask what are the advantages or the disadvantages of this? I own at BCV and SSR, I want to add on some more points, will like them to be BCV points, but if they have BWV available as well I wouldnt mind.

If some one hasn't already said this, if you plan on adding on at a different resort but need the 54 points to book a 1 bedroom at AKL, you will loose the 11 month advantage with those 54 points unless you bank/borrow from the regular contract. I am assuming this because you may want to add on at VWL.

I have 175 points at VWL that I can book at the 11-mo window, 165 points at BCV that I can book at the 11-mo window, 120 points at BWL that I can book at the 11-mo window, and 210 points at AKV that I can book at the 11-mo window.

Since I go 4 times a year and I want to stay at a different resort each trip, and since I always book at the 11-mo window, I am never disappointed. I always get the room I want, where I want, when I want. That's why I own at my four favorite DVC resorts.

Good for you.

Thanks for your answer.

Congrats on the add ons.. How come you didn't have to pay closing costs. Is it norminal not to pay closing costs if your just adding on. Or was that a special deal..

as said, minimum add-on is 25 points and it had to be the same UY as you already--no closing costs!!

Next question:

We have one contract for 150 points - would we have to add-on at the same resort ?

:cool1:

it just has to be the same "use year month."

the resort can be different. (BUT you don't get the 11 month advantage at both resorts - if you buy a 50pt add-on, then that's all you can use at 11 months to book the new home resort...or bank/borrow to use 150 pts every 3 years...but the old home resort pts only work at the old home resort at 11 months...)

(and again, no closing costs for add-ons for current members.)

I would say be careful adding on little points (like 25 or 50) at a different resort than your home resort. Your 11 month advantage will then only be for 25 or 50 points, which hardly gives you a night someplace!

I'd recommend at least 75 points add on if you are going for a second home resort.

Sorry for repeating this, but I am surprised. So let say I chose to add on 50 pts to my SSR UY april, I just pay 50times (the curent pts cost) and no extra charges to close. No lawyer fees.

YES!!! just take # points X price and that's it!! Again--it must be your UY, but it can be ANY DVC resort--if they don't have it, you can go on a waiting list--usually takes a few months tops, even for the hard ones--but SSR should be instant.

Wow, thats great!

I had the understanding that everytime you added you had to pay those extra costs. Were definately going to add on soon then.
Thanks for the great info. That's why I love the disboards!
