We are going in August, and to save some money, I am going to bring the small cereal boxes, and bowls so that the kids can eat, before we leave to explore WDW each day. We are staying at the AKL and I was wondering if I could buy the small containers of milk each day in our hotel, or do I have to get it elsewhere.?

I usually take along the small boxes of Parmalait(sp?) milk. It does not have to be refrigerated and is just perfect for cereal. It's not real cheap, but cheaper than the stuff at the resorts!

:bounce: Mara @ the AKL is the counter service / convenience store and has milk available. There are also some items at the regular store but don't recall if there was milk there ... :wave2:

Most of the resorts at WDW have gallons of milk in the gift shop. We have not been to AKL. You can bring a cooler (colapasable if flying) or get a cheap one there. Ice added twice a day will keep the milk cold.

AKL has fridges in their rooms. If you need to pick up some milk from the gift shop or Mara you can, but they are sort of pricey. Right down the street there is a Winn Dixie, a Publix, and a 7-11 if you want to get less expensive items.

PM me if you need more details or directions.

Yes, the gift shop at AKL does have milk. We purchased quart size vitamin D milk from the shop. They might have had 1/2 gallon or gallon jugs also, but I did not notice. The quart size is only 20 cents or so more than the little pints you can get at Mara.

Thank you all for your responses :flower: When we go down we are not renting a car, so going down the street is really not an option. BUT finding out that I can get a quart as opposed to a pint (per person) is much better. Fortunately, we are from NY so high prices don't scare me, and beliee it or not I was able to check some and it wasn't too bad.....but better than buying breakfast everyday. ;)

Again thank you, you all have be very very helpful.

Make sure to always buy your milk at the resort gift shop, not the counter service restaurant b/c there's a big price difference!

IIRC, In March, a 1/2 gallon of whole milk was about $2.99 yes, more than you'd pay at home, but this is Disney and as others have stated, but it at the "gift shop" not the restaurants/food court.

$2.99 for a half gallon was what milk was two years ago. I'm truly amazed it hasn't gone up, since milk prices have exploded in the real world.
