Buying lunch for a friend

Ya' know it never dawned on me to tell them we can meet up later. I think I was so in shock at the whole thing. It was just weird.

I'd have said, after the first 1/2 hour, "Well, it looks like we can't agree. I'm going to eat at ________, and you're welcome to join me if you'd like; my treat. Otherwise, let's meet at ________ for [whatever] at ____ o'clock. OK?"

This is more than likely what I would've done after a 1/2 hour. I would've suggested a buffet given there is a variety. After all, I'm paying. Beggars can't be choosers.

Too bad there aren't any buffets in Vegas. ;)

:lmao: I'm sure everybody could've agreed on at least one.

I was in Vegas recently and met up with a friend I haven't seen in years. We went shopping and I offered to buy lunch. One because I was starving and two because my friend is unemployed. They agreed and we started to look for a place to eat.

I'm guessing there was more than one? You started off by saying you met up with a friend, then referred to they. IMO, they should be glad you even offered. I would've picked a place and stuck to it. If they didn't want to go because of such and such a reason; I would've told them "I'm sorry that we couldn't decide on a place, but I really am getting hungry and would like to eat here. Maybe we can try again another time. Next time we'll plan ahead."

But that's me and I've done this with my own family. Plus if I haven't seen this friend in years, no big deal to me if I don't see or talk to him/her for many more years to come. Especially after the snooty remark. They would be fending for themselves if I got that remark.

if your paying it your decision. Simple. Take more control of the situation and tell your friend that you are going to eat at "X" restaurant. They have no choice in the matter. You allowed them to become not just an equal part in the decision making, but sounds like they took over the decision making. Next time, if this friend is lucky enough to get a next time. Just simply decide for both of you. The last thing you want is to short change yourself by trying to do something nice for someone. And unfortunatly it sounds like you did just that. To bad, Vegas has so many dinning options!

Could it be possible that she did come off as being a bit snooty?

I have taken friends out to eat, I can't image saying we are going here end of story sorry if you hate it. If I take someone out l let them pick where we go.
