Buying in just a bit was the best decision I could have made

I know realize one of the best decisions I have ever made was to just barely dip my feet into the DVC waters. (40 point contract) With seeing that Disney is now allowing even more off site resorts the opportunity to get in at 60 days out with fast passes, that will make the opportunity to sell fast passes to resort guest at 90 days out very profitable. I believe this will be coming shortly.

No more DVC points for me. I will just stick with what I got and probably venture to other destinations from time to time.

I had a similar experience the other week when I decided to enter a local fight club. Tapping out after 8 seconds was the best decision I've ever made. Had I stayed in there for longer, I'm pretty sure I would've been kicked in the head a 4th or 5th time.

What I read mentioned nothing about days for FP booking, in fact the article states that Disney’s announcement does not deal with FP.

:teeth:

Confused - that article says that those two hotels are joining the 7 Disney Springs hotels, yet when you click on the link to the article about those 7 hotels it says that the offer of 60 day FP reservations is only good through 2018 - so which is it?

What in the world are they doing? I assume they’re getting well compensated for this which can only mean they feel that those who stay onsite are so blindly loyal that they’ll ignore cramped rooms that are not properly cleaned, parking fees and all the rest of it in order to stay at a Disney resort. Literally the only perk left is ME.

Replacing EMH with ridiculously priced EMM & DAH & flooding the remaining hours with thousands more people... What the actual...

I found an old notebook recently with some scribbled compare / contrast notes. I wrote down a few contracts that I was considering. This was 2013/14 ish. SSR was $69 a point, BWV was $74 a pt and BCV was $76 a point most had full allocation of points + banked. SMH I ended up buying VGF for $139

I am actually now wondering if it wouldn't be a bad idea to sell my contract this summer. I really am.

It really sounds like that would be a good idea for you.
I won't do it, I think. But what I will want to do is hold onto it for a bit longer just to see what other "changes" come down the pipeline with Disney. Part of me thinks that maybe just maybe I might like going less frequently and saving up more money to buy exclusive events, fast passes, what not. :scratchin But then part of me wonders what if I get to the point where I want to sell it and so does everyone else and not get too much of anything for it. Uggghh.

But I do know that times change, for the good and the bad. Right now it is Disney's time to be able to try to squeeze every last penny out of their guest that they can get. But a recession will hit again, and then the tables will most likely turn. But, can one afford to go during a recession? When we first started going in 2005 and through like 2011 we were spoiled rotten and really had no idea what we had going on. Now I do. After the 9/11 attack and then the start of the great recession, there was no interest in DVC for me because of the great deals and such we got with Disney, TA, ect. Even now the travel agency I have used that used to have the most wonderful agency exclusive rates, those rates are no longer wonderful, the savings has been cut dramatically. :sad1:

My only regret is not getting into DVC a few years earlier, but I will admit if I done that then I would have added on more points by now. But now I wonder if I should really regret that.:rolleyes1

Thinking back a bit more here. I remember when the Free Dining first came out and we did it two maybe three times I think. We got the counter service meal, a dessert, a drink and then a table service meal, with an appetizer, dessert and drink, or a buffet. Plus the tip was included. I remember reading on how so many DVC members were furious with this deal because resort guest were coming out on the better end even with paying full price for the resort room. I totally see that now. If such a offer were to come back there is no way I would want to stay on my DVC points.

I care less about rides / FPs etc with every trip. The parks are simply too crowded in general. I can only take so much.

We have been lucky enough to stretch out 60 points at BWV very far with standard studios so I feel like it's been a very good value compared to the current "crappy discount" era on cash rooms. (We loved the free dining days when the dining plan was better (IMO) and you got it with only single day ticket purchases and regular dining with mods and...and...yes we were spoiled!)

I like the idea of a trip utilizing only DAH / special events (instead of regular park tix every day) and enjoying sleeping in, our resort and other activities, nice meals etc during the afternoon, watching fireworks from TOTWL... So, I'm just holding out hope that they keep the nice DAH ticket discounts for DVCers around long enough for me to plan a trip like this! (Right now we have APs). It would be really nice if they'd give DVC some priority on FPs as a benefit, and a good business move IMO, but I won't hold my breath.

That being said, they really are being greedy little.......
