Buying in just a bit was the best decision I could have made

Thinking back a bit more here. I remember when the Free Dining first came out and we did it two maybe three times I think. We got the counter service meal, a dessert, a drink and then a table service meal, with an appetizer, dessert and drink, or a buffet. Plus the tip was included. I remember reading on how so many DVC members were furious with this deal because resort guest were coming out on the better end even with paying full price for the resort room. I totally see that now. If such a offer were to come back there is no way I would want to stay on my DVC points.

It only was a better deal when you could stay at a Value - maybe a Moderate - and you got the same meal plan as every where else. Once you hit a Deluxe room the full price room did not make up for it. Then Disney changed it so Values get the QS. And full room rates have gone up. If you pack a room to the full occupancy you can get value but no, trading DVC for free dining is not going to cost less if you want to stay in the same resorts and room types.

If you don't plan to go to Disney then selling likely is the best way to go. If you do and it works to use your DVC points then it may not be but it just depends on where you want to stay.

There is no way I could stay at the Waldorf or DS hotel for the same cash outlay as my DVC. I am getting exactly what I signed up for, a nice room at Disney for a good value. The rack rate for the room I am staying in this summer would be 50% of my initial contract cost. That is just ONE stay. I have had years of use with many more to come.
