Does anyone buy through Mypoints? I keep seeing Gift cards to buy for the movies, Staples and other places I shop but Im wondering if it is worth it. Are the any hidden fees Im not seeing in the fine print?

we have been buying the cards...there are no hidden fees that i know of. Of course, I only buy cards to places that we would use anyway...dh spends a fortune at Staples for our small business. It's a great way to boost that point total!

I bought the LL Bean and Bed & Breakfast cards and have not encountered any fees either. I stick with the gift cards I am sure I will use and have substantial rewards points. So far so good.:thumbsup2

No hidden fees - I've gotten the Marriott gift cards several times - I think it's a great deal - a little something extra (the mypoints points) for something that you would buy anyway.

Thanks posters! I love gettting the gift cards as rewards and that has always been so easy (I just click on the links, never bought anything on there before).

I've bought a Red Robin card (used when we went to DLR last year) and the Overstock one (got super cozy boots :)). Got them super fast, I did not see any fees or had any problems using them. They are a great deal and hope they keep offering them - it would be awesome if they did a Disney card offer :thumbsup2

Oh so funny - just yesterday I thought about posting how gift card buying on Mypoints is a great way to boost your total points. I started with the Chili's gift cards (and by the way I thought you earned a total of whatever it said but if it allows you to order two you double that...so for a bonus mail that says 300 points and they let you order two -- that equals 600 points!)

I have also gotten the the Darden ones and I did the AMC gold tickets (which isn't a great deal but I know we are going opening weekend of a movie so it will work).

The coolest thing is they come sooooo fast. Literally two days for the last one I ordered.

I am definitely keeping my eyes open for these opportunities.

I have done MP for years, only do what I would do normally, and then have used the points to buy gas cards to pay for the gas for our trips to Disney since we like to drive there. It seems to me we have used the points to get restaurant gift cards in the past to be used during our travel as well. No hidden fees ever in my experience.

What we are talking about now is the bonus mails that have been going out where you buy a gift card for a certain amount to a certain retailer (whatever the email is for) and then you get points for buying that gift card.

So I have received emails for receiving anywhere from 300-500 points for buying gift cards for retailers such as Darden, Staples, Chili's, LL Bean, Marriott, and more).

I don't think Disney lets anyone get rewards on GC purchases. I joined SR several years ago, and Disney had just rescinded the rewards on GCs back then. I don't think anyone has convinced them to do it again!

yeah, i thought so, too. Like they don't get enough of our money to give us a lil kickback. Sheesh.

How do you tell which gift cards you can get points for? Or do you only get the ones they send emails about?

Go to my points. Look up Disneystore. 2points per dollar spent. Go to gift cards and pick out what you want. You will get points with mypoints for you purchase. Just make sure you go thru my points to the disneystore.

That might be your experience but the Mypoints FAQ states the exact opposite.

Will I earn Points for buying gift cards from MyPoints merchants?
Unless specifically stated in the offer details, you won't earn Points for gift card or gift certificate purchases.

sorry, works for me and has for the last 3 years.
Usually they will say when you click on the stores that it doesn't include gift cards. The disneystore does not say that. And I have always got points.
Believe what you want.
Like I said, your experience might be different, but their FAQ specifically says NO. Given that Mypoints will refer a member to their FAQs if anyone has a problem getting their points, I tend to believe them instead of an internet stranger. No offense intended.

Like I said, believe what you want. The last gift cards I got were in April. I guess you won't be going thru My Points to buy a gift card. It's an easy way to get points if you want to buy gift cards.
But that is OK, cause I must be lying.:rolleyes1
