Buying DVC resale?

I am very new to this so I have a few questions. I understand that you can only use your points towards the Disney Resorts.

1. How long are your points good for say I get points in 2015 how long will the be available to me??

2. Say I buy a 160 points now how often does Disney increase the points at resorts??

3. Do I still get discounts on park tickets, meal plans and shopping if I buy resale and not directly from Disney?? If so do you know what they are??

1. Depends on your resort. Are you buying resale? I believe the various end dates are 2042, 2054, 2057, 2060, 2064, and is resort specific.

2. Disney does not increase the total points. Sometimes the points are reallocated (weekends a few points less, etc) to balance out usage needs.

3. Yes. You are a dvc owner. There's 10% discount on merchandise and many restaurants. Annual pass discount. Sometimes there are special ticket discounts.

The only restriction with resale are using your points in exchange for Disney cruises, adventure trips, and the collections (hotel exchange). Disney charges a lot per point for these options so most ppl don't use them or they rent their dvc points, turn around and use cash, as it is more cost efficient.

3. Just remember these extras can and do come and go, so dont buy to count on them. You are buying into a discounted room. That is all, everything else is fairy dust.
