Is it still possible to use Target gift cards to buy Disney gift cards? I was in the process of planning a trip and knew you used to be able to but have been told this may have changed?

They no longer allow direct payment using a Target GC to purchase a Disney GC.

However, I still convert my Target GCs to Disney. I do a fair amount of my shopping there so it works out for me.

So if I buy $50 worth of merchandise at Target and a $50 Disney GC I can then use a $50 Target GC and my RedCard to cover the remainder. I count that as a win in my book because I’m guaranteed to spend that money there anyway.

no. Most stores now d not accept gc for gc
*all stores

It’s hard coded in the systems nationwide now OP no gc for GC at Target.

ETA: I meant all TARGET stores as that’s what original OP was asking. Sorry for confusion!

This is what I do too. In my brain, I am converting my Target gift card to a Disney gift card. In reality, I am buying $25 worth of groceries with a Target gift card and using my Red Card to buy a $25 Disney Gift card. I just save up my FWP gift cards and "convert" them to Disney gift cards whenever I have $25 saved up AND I am making a Target run for stuff that is going to cost me more than $25.

I do what the others have said above. I ALWAYS need things at Target, so this is not hard for me to do.

At a number of locations around Houston you can not buy a gift card in the same transaction where you are using a gift card for payment, even if merchandise covers the amount of money on the GC you are using to pay.

Wow!

I no longer shop much at Target. I used to shop there a lot and watch the weekly ads specifically to get the $5 and $10 Target gift cards with purchase until I had enough to buy a Disney card. Since you can't do that anymore, it isn't the same in my mind. It was a way to save up for a Disney card but now I'm paying more than I would at other places for merchandise to get a card to buy more of the same. In my mind that's not a Disney savings. To be fair, it probably never was, but it was a simple way to stash away $5 at a time to purchase a Disney card down the road.

I wonder how much $$$$ that Target has lost with Disney cards since no longer allowing gc to gc purchases.

I know I didn't buy $300 in Target GC for $270 yesterday because of it.

We still buy Disney GC at Target for 5% off before our trips, if my local grocery store doesn't have anything better. Better than nothing.

We bought $600 worth of gift cards last year to buy Disney gift cards and now that Target changed their policy, I didn't bother this year. I rarely shop at Target anymore, so it wasn't worth the perceived savings.

$0. They weren’t making money selling their gift cards at 10% off and having them used to buy an item they made less than 10% on in the margins. We don’t know what their margin is on the GC but my research says it’s definitely less than 10%.

Yea, I have absolutely NO use for Target anymore. Other stores get my $.

I've abandoned Target for all shopping especially GC. Last year it was worth the extra miles to drive to Target, now it's not. I just buy locally and get my GC when I see a bargain, like BJ's.

But many people like myself were not just buying them from Target at 10% off, but from other sources. So I would think that there might would have cost them something.

Still no. Target doesn’t make a penny when you buy gift cards from a 3rd party. They’ve already made that money when they sold the card. If they can entice/force you to use it on a higher profit product (i.e. not a gift card), they will make more money. If you never use the gift card at all, that’s even better for them.
