Buying Disney Dinning Plan and Tickets Discount?

Is it just available at SSR? Or other DVC resorts? I've heard of it at SSR because they have a hard time filling cash rooms there. I just saw a post on facebook where someone got upgraded from CBR to a SSR 1 bedroom for free. Happens a lot during September free dining because it's a slow time of year for DVC.

This really burns me up when I hear this. I know Disney retains 2% for cash reservations but if they don't fill it on cash it should be turned back to DVC members wanting to go on points. Big difference in price between 1 room at a moderate and a 1 bedroom at SSR.

That said we have been upgraded at CSR from a regular room to a suite. It was pretty awesome but I felt bad about it. But that's just me.

That's not the way it works. DVC retains a minimum of 2% (or 5%?) for cash , they could have more. Rooms also go to CRO when a member trades out. If they turned those rooms over to points, there would be no reimbursement for those trades. By overbooking values & moderates, rooms they can fill, they can get some cash back by upgrades rather than SSR rooms sitting empty. Maybe some of those upgrades buy DVC in the future.

They really can't. They'll let the room sit empty before they'd simply donate it back and from a business standpoint they are correct. Their inventory comes from retained and unsold, points bought back in some way, breakage and cash exchanges.

Not sure what Debbie means by "...trades out." If the owner exchanges through RCI, the inventory goes to RCI, not to Disney CRO.

Likely DCL, DC, CC, ABD and the like, cash type exchanges.

No free dinning at all resorts, you get three levels depending on which type of resort you choose, dinning is available all year as long as you book far enough in advance, right now the whole of 2015 has free dinning.
