Buying Direct Question

If I buy points direct at at SSR/OKW, etc. and have an October use year (let's assume 100 points), what will they give me at the time of purchase? Only 100 in 2022? Or 2021 also? And if I get 2021, for how long will I still get them as the year goes on? And will they let me one time bank them to 2022 or will I have to use the by 9/30/2021? Sorry for the multiple part question but don't want to make a decision using a bad assumption.

You'll get 2021 points and they'll let you bank even though it may be outside of the banking window. Did that this past November for my Dec UY and banked the points as soon as they were loaded.

Are you currently a member with an Oct UY? You could buy in late September and they'll have points for you. But if you're not yet a member of if that's not your use year then they may say that the 2021 points may not be available. At least that's what happened to me. In august while waiting for ROFR we inquired about going direct with a Sept, Oct, or Dec UY. They said that they couldn't sell us those UY because they didn't have the points to sell. When we passed ROFR in shortly after and membership was created, all of a sudden we could add-on to our Dec UY and get the 2020 points. So we added on 3rd week of November right to get the 2020 points and had them banked immediately.

Yea but I wouldn’t wait until the last possible moment like that, given it may take hours to load the points and banking those points would take a call to MS. Sure they make a onetime exception to bank them the day after is MS is closed or something but not something I’d want to risk.

MS should be able to handle that, unless theirs rules about switching out those points that I’m not aware of.

Don't wait until the end of the use year. The longer you wait, the less likely they will have 2021 points available to give you. At 60 days prior to 10/1, any remaining points are available to the general public (as breakage). Disney will not hold onto those points hoping someone will buy them. They wlll offer them for cash bookings. Also, October is a very popular time for DVC members to visit.. Bottom Line: DVD may not have 2021 points to give you.

Thank you! Once my ROFR process is done (July), I will pull the trigger if I decide that is the way to go. If there are no 2021 points available, that may send me down a different road.

True. But it doesn't help me with GVs at the lower cost resorts. And while my Family is at prime age, that is my focus. I almost pulled the trigger on VGF, but decided it really didn't address our needs.

I got an October use year and the 2021 points but I had to send them my contract and a confirmation that it passed ROFR or he was not doing it.

No VGF2 had no 2021 points to give. It just opened in 2022.

I did exactly that last month. They applied the 2021 points to may March 2023 reservation and even unborrowed some points for me. You will pay no dues on the 2021 points but will pay the last few months of 2022. I am October OKW.

My UY is August and I brought RIV points before the 'old' incentives expired.

I got 2021 points and even though outside the banking window, they were banked via the Chat.

That is a benefit of direct......
