Buying contract from a friend?

Short story is that my wife's maid of honor's family is probably going to sell at least one of their DVC contracts due to a severe injury in the family. On the assumption that their contract is in the ballpark of what I'm looking for, are there any tips for streamlining the process?

Knowing their situation, we definitely don't want to go this route to catch a bargain so we'd pay market value, but it would be nice if there were ways to bypass some of the red tape. As it's a real estate transaction, I assume there's going to be some legal fees involved and I assume that ROFR is impossible to avoid, but wondering if anyone else has a similar experience.

Yes, the purchase agreement still needs to be submitted for ROFR.

There is a company called LT Transfers that will do the new deed for much less than the title company that DVC recommends. LT Transfers rates start at $150, the title firm DVC recommends charges (IIRC) over $400.

I just used First American.l.which is the Disney recommended firm...for my gratuitous transfer with my kids...and it was $475.

So, it is on the pricey side. I went with them for ease and to get it done in about 2 weeks!
