Target is advertising a iphone 6 for 130 plus a gift card if you sign up for 2 years. I am currently looking to renew and if I go with att directly the phone would be 200. is there any negatives from buying/renewing contract with target. I will mostly likely buy insurance through squaretrade since I did it with my current phone. Need to make a decision buy saturday afternoon.

How much is the monthly bill going to be? In the past I found the cheapest plan was on Virgin Mobile. I paid $400 for the I*Phone 4 but the monthly bill for unlimited texting and data was $33 per month. It was much cheaper than paying less upfront for the phone and paying $60 per month for unlimited texting and data. I don't believe they offer that plan anymore but there may be others out there.

Go for it. I went with my DD and DDIL when they upgraded their cell phones at the AT&T office because I wanted to upgrade too. I don't use my phone that often anymore, have the lowest data plan and no message plan and use an old plan I bought 15 years ago and is grandfathered. The salesman told me I would be better off just getting my phones at Target or Best Buy when they have a special because they can offer deals that AT&T can't. This is my 2nd Iphone I have gotten from Target and have been happy with them plus you can use your Target card and get 5% off.

I didn't even think of getting the 5% with the redcard (which I do have). I think I am going to go with buying at target, purchasing square trade warranty and staying with att.

I've done both Target and Best Buy, with no issues. They usually have better deals than the Verizon Store for me.

Ive done it 3 times and recently this past week with the deal
Dont forget to use the cartwheel for extra 10% off also i have sprint and traded in iphone5 got extra $125 gc and ised that towards tax and applecare insurance :)

Might want to check Sam's Club if you have it too. I found that they had the cheapest prices when I looked (this was about 6 months ago though).

My problem with Target was they only had the smallest capacity Iphones. I was not about to get the smallest storage and get the message constantly that my phone was full. I don't have that much on it, but they sure do fill up fast. I don't know how reliable the sales guy was, but when I asked if he could tell me if other nearby Targets had the larger capacity, he said Targets only get the basic models. So I went to ATT and just got one there.

The $150 target gift card is only if you buy one of the installment plans; the two year contract paying outright for the phone does not qualify for the $150 gc. When I priced it the ATT plan was cheaper if I bought it from ATT than through Target so you might want to check the monthly plan costs.

Target (as well as Best Buy and others) is an "Authorized Retailer" of the major cell phone providers. A lot of AT&T stores are not run by AT&T but an authorized retailer as well. Sometimes you will see their name right under the AT&T on the sign. No need to worry about buying through them.

There is also a cartwheel deal for iPhones right now. ATT might be excluded from that. We've done several upgrades at target. No problems.

No issues at all. Rarely buy my phones directly from the carrier anymore.

The only issue I had, was the only colors in stock were white and gold, and I wanted gray. Oh well. For $130 dollars, I'm liking my white phone. Plus, Target let me use the gift card to pay for the tax on the phone and used it to buy my cover (that was on sale too) and still have almost 40 dollars left on the card. I bought my kids through Sam's Club as at the time, that was the best deal I could find. I don't mind buying from other than AT&T. There was no issue with my AT&T account and worked with my apple account just fine each time.
