Ok i'm not sure if this is the right place but i need your help. My grandma just passed away and we thought that what better way to remember her buy then getting a brick with her name engraved on it. We thought we heard something about being able to get a brick on the castle engraved but can't find any info on it... Does anyone know anyhting about this or who i can contact? Thank you in advance for your help.

I honestly don't know about bricks at MK but there is the Leave a Legacy tile at Epcot. You could have her name engraved on it.

The bricks are no longer available for purchase. Leave a Legacy at Epcot is the only option at this time.

You used to be able to buy a paving block at the entrance to MK. This program ended a few years ago. As a replacement they have the Leave aLegacy program over at Epcot but this program is an image etched onto a metal plaque and placed on one of the monuments just inside the Epcot entrance. I don't know if this can be done from any photograph or negative or if it must be a photo taken at the Leave a Legacy concession.

The bricks were discountinued several years ago. We got in early and ours in right outside the main entrance to the MK near the boat launch and under the Monorail(E14417) is its number and we get a picture of us with it each time we go..smjj

I bought my brick in November 1994 when they first started selling them and mine is outside the entrance on the bus sice. I usually check on it when I am over there - fortunately it is on the edge of a grassy area, so it does not get walked on & still looks good. :)

As the OP has been told, this program ended quite some time ago. However, they started up a similar program at DL in 2003(?). You might want to check with Disneyland to see if they are still selling their bricks.

There are no bricks on the castle.

The Leave a Legacy tile doesn't have to be a picture. they have a selection of images you can put on the tile with some words (like you would do for a brick). We saw a few on one of the legacy towers last week.

Anyone else remember when the monorail speil used to include:

"In front of the Magic Kingdom is Disney's Walk Around The World, a pathway that will eventually stretch more than 3 1/2 miles around the Seven Seas Lagoon. Each stone in the pathway commemorates the name and year of an individual guest visit, or an entire family vacation at Walt Disney World"

Around the Seven Seas Lagoon, huh?

How far east and west of the Magic Kingdom entrance did the path construction actually get?

Our brick is near the Contemporary. Our niece and nephew's brick is near the Polynesian.

I don't think they EVER lengthened the path from what it was when they started the "brick program".

On the Contemporary to TTC side of the lake, there would be a problem of trying to get FOOT-TRAFFIC under that somewhat narrow "water-bridge" that connects Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon.
All those resort buses running back and forth to MK make that slim passage-way under that bridge a busy traffic area for sure!

On the Grand Floridian to MK loop of the path, there is a fairly large CANAL opening about mid-way between the hotel and the MK.
Its where they dock the "Electrical Water Pageant" barges when not in use. You can see the barges from the monorail.

That would be a tough thing to "bridge"
(I suppose it could have been a DRAW BRIDGE like they have in Epcot, near the China/Africa areas.)

I wish I had been able to get a brick for Dad. He died just before our last Disney trip. How he loved Disney. :( He always told his grandchildren,"Disney World is not for kids, It's for me." Didn't think of giving him a Leave a legacy tile. We have two. It's the first thing I will do when we go this August. Thanks so much for the suggestion. :thumbsup2

thank you all so much.. i knew they did it but wasn't sure if the stoped.. how do you get a legacy tile? how much is it? how long does it take? is it something we could see and take a pic of while we are there?

The tile cost 35.00 when I got it (back in 99-00..maybe..not positive). It is not something that would be up right away. We were able to see it on our next trip, which is usually 6 months or less.

There are these pillars (for lack of a better word) and the images are engraved onto a metal piece that is attached the the pillar. When we got it, it was just images, we have now noticed that there are sayings, as well.

We, also, got a brick on our honeymoon in 99...which wasn't all too long before they stopped doing it. We are right at TTC and very easy to find. Everytime we are there my DS gets a kick out of it.

You guys have been full of great information... Thanks for all the info that is why when i have a question I would always look here first before I go anywhere else... The OP is my sis and we will look into the tile idea when we get down there next month.. Thanks again for all the ideas and keep them comin if you want to.. Love hearing the stories about when and why you got the bricks done or even the new tiles..
