Buying BCV resale...any feedback?

I'm sending in a deposit to the Timeshare Store on a 200 point BCV December use year resale. I paid (am paying) $92 a point but the contract comes with 200 points from 2005 and 200 coming on 12/06.
-1st question - any feedback about timeshare store? Also when does the DVC BCV timeshare expire?

I wanted a contract with points available so I could book our trip in Dec 06 (12-1 to 12-8 most likely) We will book a 1BR villa at 200 points so this works well.
-2nd question - will I need to bank the points so I can use them on 12-1-06?

It's an odd situation with the dec use year and wanting to arrive on 12-1.

And final question - if everything goes as planned - the timeshare store says "about 8 weeks" until we are settled and can make request. That puts me around 4/15/06. If I understand right - being BCV owner - I can book 11 months out vs. 7 months out for other resort owners. Will I have much difficulty getting my request for December 06 at BCV???

I figured I'd ask those with experience :)

I'm very psyched and can't wait to be a DVC owner.....we love the Beach Club and with a 5 YO girl and 6 YO boy....my wife and I can't think of a better place to vacation. Thanks in advance for your feedback - Steve

Have you passed ROFR? I guess so and that's why you are saying you'll be able to book 4/15/06. Well, Beca who owns at BCV is already waitlisted one of the days in the beginning of December. I hope you get what you want, but you may have to waitlist or try a different resort for your first trip home.

The 2005 points will have to be banked in order to use them for a December '06 ressie.

2042 is the year, but I don't know about which month the first batch of DVC's expire.

Best wishes!

Bobbi :)

Hi Steve,

We have used the Timeshare Store in the past for an add-on contract and we experienced no problems with them. They're highly respected on these boards - I am confident you'll be fine using them.

Based on what I'm reading lately about BCV availability and what we've experienced, you may run into problems securing a December reservation in April if your heart is set on BCV. You most likely will be able to grab a reservation at another resort (OKW, SSR are the most likely candidates). You never know though...certainly give it a try. You can grab a reservation elsewhere and waitlist if all else fails.

Congrats and Welcome Home.

That's a fully loaded contract. Good Luck to you. :thumbsup2

Don't get too excited...Stay steady till you pass Disney's ROFR ... its not cast in concrete yet .. ;)

Wow....thanks for the feedback. I am aware of the ROFR but I figure a $92 a point contract would be pretty safe.

I'll have to keep my fingers crossed regarding my hopes for our 12/1/06 trip....I could request 12/8 arrival as well...hmmmmmm -Steve

Since you are paying $92 per point, I think you'll be pretty safe with passing ROFR because DVC couldn't buy that back and turn around and make any $ on it. Are you paying the closing costs?

I am curious though if you contacted DVC direct to see if they had anything available at BCV right now. If you are flexible on the UY you want, they sometimes have points available. Not to mention you'd be setup in the system almost immediately AND would also get the current year points to use.

As for getting in at the BCV for December... you might have to waitlist but you'll probably come thru as the 7 month mark comes and those folks try to switch to other resorts.

Oh, you said you'd expect to be in by 4/15/06, did you mean 5/15/06? If you are just sending your paperwork in now and have not yet passed ROFR, then it could be later in May or possibly June before you actually pass ROFR, get closed on the contract, and entered into the DVC system. Much of it depends on the response time of DVC. I can take up to 4 weeks to pass ROFR, though it could pass in 1-2 weeks. It could take a couple of weeks to get the estoppel letter from DVC that allows the closing company to finalize things. Then to actually do the closing, send out all the paperwork which you have to sign and return with the final payment, and the seller has to get noterized before returning. If you don't get in until June, you'd be at the 7 month mark and folks will likely be battling for ressies at BCV then... However, if it is that late, you could always book at OKW or SSR and then waitlist to get in BCV. At 7 months, you'd stand a good chance due to people cancelling or changing their ressies.

vascubaguy is very optimistic--there is usually a long wait to even add-on points at BCV. I was talking to my guide a few days ago and asked--she told me what was available--a few points in two different months only, and not nearly enough for a new contract (150) for anyone. Very odd amounts too.

Good luck on your contract. The fact that it is indeed loaded might make it desirable to rofr, but we'll be keeping our fingers crossed for you!

We got word about 2 weeks ago that our $90/pt BCV with 150 banked pts from previous year passed ROFR. I'm thinking yours should fly too. Like you, we're already planning vacations, and can't wait to get in "the system" to book. I've got plan A,B and C prepared in case we can't get into our home resort.

Wow that's great, could you add your info to the ROFR thread. Congratulations!!

There is definately a long wait to "add-on" at BCV, but most of those folks have to have a specific UY. For those that want to do a new purchase and the UY isn't as big of a deal to them, it is very likely they could get a BCV contract direct much faster. There have been several folks in the past few months that have called and gotten BCV direct with a wait of less than a couple weeks.

It's always worth it to explore all available options. In this case, it could save the OP the closing costs and a couple months of waiting.

BTW, good luck brownsoup. Let us know if the direct puchase comes thru! :wizard:

I can tell you that lately, like a month ago, there were just bits and pickings of BCV points available. Not only in different use years, but in different areas of the contract. FIL has been trying to get into BCV direct...our guide said it would be a while before he could pull together 150 points.

So while vascubaguy has seen quick turnover, I think right now, don't get your hopes up. I think the contract you have right now is probably better and can be in play faster than what DVC can do for you at this point at BCV. JMHO.

Think good thoughts.... :) ..... I'm on a roll so I'm hoping to complete my trio of good luck:

#1 I called my home equity line of credit and asked them to lower my interest rate....they did by 1% point... surprised me!

#2 After trashing a $100 rebate check on accident - I called Direct TV who informed me they do not and cannot reprint rebate checks.....after talking to an AWESOME supervisor...he said "No worries - we'll just credit your account $100" Way cool.

#3 :surfweb: waiting patiently for some Disney magic....with fingers crossed! - Steve

Almost exactly a month ago (Feb 11th) I got a brand new 160 point BCV contract after being on the waitlist for only 1 week. I opened myself up to all use years and something came through for me very quickly. Now I've been told this is a fluke but it does happen. I just got lucky I guess.

Congratz and Welcome Home!!!

Oh, and you might want to set some ground-rules for your travels.... One of mine was, "Regardless of how many trips we take to WDW, my IASW experience will be limited to 1 per year." :teeth:

I would speculate BCV will be booked for the entire month of December by then. Why do you have to go in December? Good luck on passing the ROFR. You might be jumping the gun a little here as BCV points are a hot comoddity it seems. SSR or OKW will be your likely choices if you must go in December. Personally I don't like December, very busy except the first week and the weather is very iffy. It would be nice to use the BCV pool. December will be luck of the draw. Good luck at any rate and waitlist is always an option.
