Hi

Just buying 270 points in BDW and had a few questions to ask?

Is this the right club to buy into (BDW) ?

Two children under 3,

Is there any new clubs being built that we should buy into

Can we use the pool at the GF (stayed last year)

Are there any vactation club villas at Disney Paris

Any general tips for new owners?

P.S

How do I get the countdown timer for my next trip to Disney World ?

Regards,

Mickey Marcus

No villas at DLP, but you can use your points.
To get your timer go to the tech board and there is a link on there to get your timer.
Good luck!

Nope can't use SAB pool if you are staying at BWV. If you stay at BCV on BWV points you can. If you want to stay at BCV you really should buy at BCV, especially with those young ones. Good luck either way. Regards, Rich

As a DVC owner, you can pool hop to any pool on the property except for Stormalong Bay(SAB) at the Beach Club. Only guests who are actually staying at the Beach Club or the Beach Club Villas can use SAB. Of course, if you pool hopped to a pool at a different resort and the pool was totally packed, guests of that resort would get first dibs, but I don't really ever think I've heard of that happening. Has any other DVCer???

As far as where to buy...the best advice is to buy where you think you want to stay the most. Your home resort gets you an 11 month window for booking time. Your booking window for the resorts that are NOT your home resort is 7 months. My DH and I own 2 contracts at Old Key West(OKW). Basically, the way we looked at it was that if we went to WDW every year and could only stay in one resort, would OKW make us happy? The answer was yes, so we bought there. Now, in actuality. we have never had a problem booking any DVC resort that we wanted, for the dates that we wanted. We do tend to go at oddball times(Janury or October/November), but I just called a few weeks ago to book OKW for July and we got it without a problem.

IMHO, the Boardwalk Villas(BWV)are an excellent choice, as you are within a short distance to 2 major parks(walk/boat to Epcot, slightly longer walk/boat to MGM), and there is a lot to do right in that area, with the shops, restaurants, activity on the Boardwalk itself. You are actually even relatively close to Fantasia Garden Mini Golf, which is across the street from the Swan/Dolphin.

You have to consider that you are buying a vacation property which you will be able to use until the year 2042, so what will your family's needs be over the course of that time? Right now, your chldren are young, so some folks might tell you it's better to be close to the Magic Kingdom(MK) and to buy at the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge(VWL). They are lovely as well, a nice pool, very serene, but a little out of the way, IMHO. Close to the MK by boat, but fairly distant from a lot of other stuff.

The nexy DVC resort being built is Saratoga Springs(SS), which is going up near Downtown Disney(DD), where the old Disney Institute used to be. Again, quite close to DD, and if that area is a big focus when at WDW, it might be one to consider.

IMHO, BW is a good choice for location.

Wow

Thanks for all your info, especially Disney Doll

I may well buy into DVC just because I feel this community is so strong I've never see such great support is this the "magic" everyone keeps telling me about?

MM

mickey marcus, welcome to the DIS

We bought into Beach Club Villas through Disney so we would have access to the SAB pool complex and we also love Epcot which is literally right next door

You cannot pool hop to SAB and to clarify in the Animal Kingdom Lodge pools

SSR is being built - there is a lot of speculation on this board regarding costs per point and whether the end date will be 2042 or some later date

Buy where you want to stay is a good piece of advice - perhaps a further derivative would be:

Buy where you would be happy staying booking at the 11 month window. You can always try to book your non-home resort at 7 month window but you better be sure you will be happy at the home resort just in case you cannot switch to a non-home resort.

FTI....The other axiom we have encountered is that odds are that if you do not book quickly enough during certain periods at your home resort or others, you are likely to get OKW to stay at which is a very good resort.

You can always waitllist as well but you need to be happy to stay at your home resort in case waitlists/7 months etc do not come through for you.

Thanks
