Buying AP with Gift Cards

I'm a DVC owner and have been collecting up gift cards to purchase my next APs. I went online today to buy one and the website no longer gives an option to input gift cards....I'm sure this was there before the price increase.

Anyone know what gives? Can you still purchase an AP with gift cards?

I think if you're using multi gift cards, you have to call and do it over the phone. I couldn't use more than one gc on the website to buy tickets last month. It's frustrating

You can use multiple, but you'll have to call. Another option is to open a Disney Vacation Account and deposit your gift cards there, then use the account to make the purchase online. After 120 days, you'll also be able to get a free $20 gift card for every $1000 spent, up to $500.

I have one. I haven't made it to the 120 day mark to redeem my gift cards, but I'm close. Even without the free gift cards, it's great because it's so convenient to have everything in one place and just use 1 number to make the transaction. The free gift cards are just a bonus.

I bought a 10D base ticket and am planning on upgrading it to an AP -- after first use -- at Guest Services.

Do you think I can use Gift Cards for that upgrade?

How about for the purchase of a TiW card?

I'm purchasing my APs with gift cards... I purchase $150 in gift cards from Sam's club for $142.98. It's not a huge savings, but it adds up when you are trying to budget APs for a family of 4. If I can deposit them into a Disney Vacation Account and have them all in one place, even better!

I'm not going to do the DVA at this point.

But I am wondering about using the Gift Cards at guest services for an upgrade. It would be a different transaction then purchasing an AP online via a DVA.

You shouldn't have a problem using the Disney Gift Card anywhere on property, for any transaction (with the exception of maybe DVC dues).

I tried converting gift cards to an AP by calling DVC since I'm taking my member discount. No help there! They will only take 2 forms of payment...meaning 1 gift card and a credit card for the balance. They transferred me to ticket sales....where I've been stuck on hold FOREVER. Tried opening a Vacation account while I'm endlessly on hold online and for whatever reason, I'm not getting a page that allows me to contribute with gift cards...only debit or credit card.

Not sure if you can do it for a discounted DVC AP, but I bought some gift cards at BJ's (discounted 4%) and took them to a Disney Store and purchased an AP voucher there.

I opened up the vacation account and today called DVC presuming that they could access my account and let me buy an AP. WRONG! If I want to access my funds, I need to go back to the vacation account people and get a gift card....but the account needs to be opened for 120 days....oh and the gift cards take 4 to 6 weeks to process....so in 6 months, I can buy my AP.



So, I CLOSED my vacation account and had them refund my payments back to my individual gift cards...welcome to square one.

Other frustrations.... I asked DVC if they could mail me my voucher...sure that will be a $25 charge?! I told them if I buy it online ...which I can't with gift cards standard shipping is free. So why would DVC charge me $25 to shove it in a regular envelop and put a stamp on it?

At the vacation account number...the CM there was rude and completely insistent that I could not buy an AP with a DVC discount any way other than on site, at guest relations, in person. Seriously?!

I've never had so much trouble trying to give Disney my money.
