Buying AP with DVC discount for child who will come later

Hi - I'm going to WDW tomorrow but my daughter is not going with me. She is, however, going on a long trip this summer with another family and they'll be there long enough that I think I want to go ahead and get her an AP using my DVC discount. Will we be able to do this if I buy it for her while I'm down there, even though we won't ever be there at the same time together? We have the same address on our drivers licenses so if they check that, it won't be a problem. I just wanted to make sure that we won't get stuck not being able to activate hers or some other problem since I won't be there with her. I am a DVC member but she is not.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

This was a couple years ago, but I was able to purchase a DVC AP for my DD via phone for a trip she was taking with my MIL. I was told to make a copy of my drivers license and member ID card and give it to my MIL along with the confirmation number. All she had to do was take the info to Guest Relations and they activated it for her. With MDE and Magic Bands, the process may have changed.

While my DS (an associate member on my m'ship) was in college/law school, I usually got to Disney before he did and I would pick up his as well as my AP (renewal date was right near our annual T-giving trip).

I had a drivers license for him (he'd lost his and had it replaced and then found the old one, so I carried the old one w/me)...I think I did this 5 or 6 times and about half the time they wanted his drivers license and for the other times the CM didn't need/want to check it (I always offered it).

You quite likely can buy the AP, get the plastic card, bring it home and give it to your daughter and then all she'll have to do is link it to her MDE (or use it for entry into the parks)...once you have the plastic card, I don't recall ever having to provide IDs...but you may need her ID to buy the AP for her even if she doesn't need your ID to activate her AP...
