Most reputable stores carry - on occation - just the console - but they go quickly. BestBuy certainly does. So do Target and WalMart.

Our Costco yesterday had a big ol' pile of $244.99 Wiis (with Sports, one nunchuck and one remote). One is now hiding in the attic

Best place to get a console or Wii Fit is Gamestop.

They come in UPS shipments (in multiples of 3 at least for the consoles) around noon time, usually Tuesday to Thursday.

Just call them around the time, ask if UPS came in with a new shipment and they 'might' hold one. If not, just go to the store..

Also, most stores today are no longer holding back stock for upcoming Sunday fliers. They are putting them out there. Target and Toys R Us are getting shipments pretty frequently. Best Buy gets the shipments in if they promoted in the flyer.

If you are in Target, you can check the status via their price scanners. If they have buttons, punch in 207250001 - If it says Backroom YES, then they have them in the back.

Finally, use a tracker such as wiialerts.com

Right now, Bestbuy.com has the console only for $5.99 s/h

Best Buy gets the shipments in if they promoted in the flyer.

Best Buy gets shipments on Wiis all the time - over the Summer most stores were getting allocations every week, promoted in the flyer or not. Allocations will vary from store to store based mostly on volume - one store might get three and another twenty. The do not hold shipments for the flyer. If Nintendo sends them units, they send those units to the stores.

Also, most companies will have different ship dates to different stores. If your Best Buy normally gets deliveries on Tuesdays, mine might be Wednesdays or Fridays. Same with Target. If you know the schedule for your local store, that's good (and most will tell you when they get shipments) - but don't depend on someone in a different part of the country to tell you when your ship date is, it doesn't do any good - as at your store.

That data is batch updated - i.e. web site inventory data is usually a few hours out of sync - and Wii's move quickly.

I must have gotten lucky, then! There was no one else buying Wiis when I got mine.
