My teens are going to skip out on MICKEY for a day. I need to send spending money.

How much do you estimate for lunch/dinner, snacks/drinks and a wand?

That's kind of subjective.
Wands are $30-40 (can't remember for sure, can't find my receipt).
Butterbeer is $11 in souvenir mug, pumpkin juice $7 in souvenir bottle, butterbeer is cheaper in plastic cups
Meals 9-15 depending on what they want to eat (assuming counter service or meal deal) snacks of course popcorn and refills are cheap enough as are refills on drinks. Candy, cauldron cakes in WWOHP are not too cheap.
Sort of depends on how much your kids eat and their selections just like in WDW.

are refills in the souvenir mugs available? and if so is the price cheaper?

Wands are $29.95, so with tax, probably close to $35 or so.

Refills of soda are available for the Butterbeer mugs. Refills were less than $1. I'm not sure about refills for Butterbeer - none of us liked it.

I think the soda refills (in other areas since WWOHP doesn't sell soda) were.79¢ and I think popcorn was the same.

I loved the Butterbeer but after a regular and about a 3rd of a chicken salad wrap I was stuffed until 9 that night (we had gone over to DHS by then) and didn't want any dinner until we left DHS.

Sorry I don't know about Butterbeer refills but I think probably not????
The cup of BB and Pumpkin juice is 3 something I think......

Sorry I don't remember any better.:sad2:

The wand was $29.95. I bought one for my son at Olvander's Cart outside of FJ. My son was the only one shopping for one at the time and the young girl there was great interacting with him and explaining the wands to him. She made sure he "tried it out" and told him what to say. The best part was the young man who checked me out gave me a 10% discount because he saw my AAA card. With tax it came to $28.71.

Also, I went inside to Three Broomsticks to purchase ButterBeer ($2.99) and got 10% when showing my AAA card there.

Can the AAA 10% discount be applied to wand purchases?

Yes it can.

What do you do with the wand? That sounds expensive.
:surfweb:

You can't really do anything with the wand, lol. It is a souvenir -- a collectors item. There are specific wands that are based on the wands that the characters used and there are also birthday wands which are each different depending on your date of birth.

Thanks! That is a good tip. I'll tell the girls to keep their cup.... 0.79 refills can save alot.

Wands are 31.90 my GF bought one. I was over hearing the guy speak to someone saying the "want shop" sells one which are gold plated and are 1k +

I never went into the wand store so I am not sure.

The Wands are metal so they wont break, but the paint will chip.

Unfortunately, the wands aren't metal but are resin and they do break. We've had many people report this already.

When I went this last November Butter beer was $11 for the souvenir cup and $3.99 for the none souvenir cup. If I'm remembering correctly, refills with the souvenir cups cost $3.99 as well.

We spent about $10-15 per meal, plus the price of drinks.

Snacks were in the $5 range (cauldron cakes were my favorite and they were $4). Things like Chocolate Frogs and Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans were around $10.

If they are planning on doing two meals, a drink, a snack and wands I would probably send them with $100 each just to be on the safe side.

_____

And as a note, the wands do in fact break. My daughter has already broken a chunk off of hers when she dropped it at the Midnight showing of Deathly Hallows.

Just wondering if it might be advantageous to purchase the meal deal ticket and souvenir mug. I am not at all familiar with the Universal parks and see that you can only use them at a limited number of restaurants. What are the expert opinions on this subject?
