Buying a Snow White dress at WDW

Can anyone tell me how princess dresses are priced at the parks these days? My six year old daughter has been saving her money to buy one in December, and I want to make sure she's prepared. She's already saved $50, and her nana has offered to chip in for half the cost of the dress. When we bought her Cinderella dress on our May 2001 trip, I think we paid about $55. So I know she's covered, but I don't want her to blow all her hard earned money on one item.

I could be wrong, but I think they are up around $60 now. I remember looking at one for my neice, and decided to buy it from the Disney Store instead, they were about $15-20 cheaper! You can look at disneystore.com, they have the new Halloween available now.

The Snow White dress is in the Disney str now. I saw it this w/end. It's abt $34. If I remember correctly, the exact same dresses are much more expensive when bought at WDW.

If you don't have a Disney str around you, check their web site. Quite often they have free shipping & other specials.

Thank you both. It may be different with the Snow White dresses, but the more expensive Cinderella dress that we bought at WDW is much better quality than the ones in the Disney Stores. I'll check them out at the store anyway. Thanks again!

the snow white dress that my dd has from the Disney Store is not as nice as the one from WDW, but it was about half the price, and she certainly didn't know the difference.

We just bought my DD the entire Sleeping Beauty ensamble, and it cost about $110. She got the dress, shoes, crown and wand. The dress is about $60, with each accessory being around $15 - $20 each. All of the princess dresses are the same price, so I'd expect the Snow White costume and matching accessories to be the same. I also agree, that the costumes located at WDW are a MUCH better quality than those at TDS and I believe it's worth the price increase!!!

I'm sure my daughter wouldn't know the difference either, but how does the Disney Store dress wash? Her Cinderella dress from WDW has held up pretty well through multiple washings, and I'd hate to buy a dress that might not be as good quality and have it fall apart in the wash. That's probably my biggest concern. Thanks!

I have three costumes from WDW and two from TDS and there DEFINATELY is a HUGE difference in quality. I have a Tinkerbell costume from WDW which is two years old and still looks like new, no problems with washing, fraying, discoloration, etc. Now, my DD just HAD TO HAVE a Cinderella costume just after last Halloween. I got it for 50% off and she wears it approx 50% less than the Tinkerbell costume. It is fraying, threads EVERYWHERE, color looks slightly off after only a couple of washings. If I had paid full price for it, I would have been VERY upset, since it has barely lasted a year. I'm ready to throw it out, it looks like she's wearing Cinderella's rags now, rather than her gown!!!!! IF your DD is just going to wear this to the Cinderella breakfast, wait until after Halloween and purchase the dress for 50% off. If your DD is like mine, and basically wants to live in the costume (My DD wears all of her ALL THE TIME!!) I'd buy the better quality one, so she'd get MANY more uses out of it.

Thanks for the advice, jel0511. No, we're not doing the Cinderella breakfast— been there, done that— but my daughter is big on dressing up when she's playing at home, and she really knows how to wear out her dress-up clothes. $60 for a dress from the parks isn't too bad since I know she'll get plenty of use out of it.

we have had the Snow White dress for about 2 or 3 years and it is starting to look a bit old, but it has been washed many many times. I would say it was fine for the first year or 18 months.

The dresses were still $55 at WDW last week. We have the Snow White one and its still in very good condition after a year and a half. I really don't like the look of the Disney Store costumes these days....they just look cheap. I think they did a better job with them in years past. Honestly I never actually looked at the construction because they don't really look like the actual princess dress. Oh shoot, I lied....I bought a Cinderella and $2 each when my dd was a baby...they were 12m size. She wore them both out before turning 2. On the other hand, I bought a Tinkerbell dress for her at WDW when she was 6mo....and it was still in great shape when she grew out of it. I think I sold it to a consignment shop.

I think we'll be getting a Cinderella dress at WDW in October!
