Does anyone on this board live there? We're looking at the options for a vacation home and a place for our castmember family member to live. Any fireworks!! Anyone have any recommendations on where the best "side" of Disney is to live. The safest? I remember seeing some post from a member who lives near the resort, but can't find them now.

Has anyone felt that they want to retire in the Orlando area and actually gone ahead and did it?

Bottom line, will you be working? When you say castmember family do you mean you plan on working at WDW? Are you over 55? How much do you want to spend?

There are some places on 27 that you can see fireworks from. But you'll really need to come check it out for yourself. At night! ;)

Hi! We live in the 4 Corners area and can see Disney fireworks every night. We thought it would be neat, but it becomes old hat very quickly. Also, if you have a dog or cat who doesn't like thunderstorms, you might want to reconsider the fireworks thing. Right now, we're in an apartment here, and the fireworks drive our poor dog crazy every single night, several times a night. We can't wait to move into our house and get farther away.

The other problem with being this close (we're about a 10-15 minute drive from WDW) is that you get a LOT of tourists. Out in Clermont, where we're building, it's much better. If you're planning on living in the area seasonally, that's one thing. But if you want to stay here year-round, then you may not feel like fighting masses of traffic every single time you leave your home. Just some thoughts.

I do know that, as someone else said, there are places on 27 in Clermont where you can see fireworks. That would be a very easy commute to Disney property. There are also homes in Windermere that have fireworks views, but those tend to cost a bit more than the Clermont ones.

Let us know if you have any specific questions; there are quite a few of us locals on this board. Also, I have an EXCELLENT buyer's agent who I would strongly recommend if you're looking to buy a house. She has lived in the area for 20+ years, and she knows all the different neighborhoods. Her services are free to the buyer; she splits the commission with the seller's agent. We used her, and we were incredibly thrilled with her help. PM me if you want her name/ number. She could probably give better neighborhood recommendations that I, and she would know more about pricing, etc.

Cheers!

I can see the fireworks from my house. Every now and then, just as I'm drifting off to sleep...BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!

Like someone else said, it gets pretty old quickly. DS and I actually watched them with foo-foo drinks out on the lanai one night last week. But normally, eh.
