I have been contemplating a membership for several years now, I really regret not buying one years ago. My question is what are the pros and cons of buying two separate resorts? I love Bay Lake so ideally I would want to buy 100 or so points at Bay Lake on the resale market and 100 points at Copper Creek direct from Disney. With the new rules in effect, is this a good or a bad idea or do I have better options? Thanks in advance any and all input is greatly appreciated Eric

I think this would really depend on how you plan to use your membership. Having two different resorts gives you two 11 month window advantages but at the same time it restricts you to two different 11 month windows (as you can't use all 200 of your points at the same place at 11 months). If you were going to use the contracts on alternate years that might work well. So year one you use 200 points from Bay Lake (borrow) and bank the extra 100 points from Copper Creek. The next year you use your 200 points from Copper Creek and so on. If you like split stays you could just use both contracts at 11 months. Buying 100 points from Disney would get you the perks but I think most of the [financial] value in the perks lies with discounted gold AP's so I would be asking myself if I would make use of that perk. You will likely pay a premium on the resale market for a 100 point contract whereas you would likely get a cheaper deal for 200 points. Closing costs on two will also hurt a little more versus one. I don't think the recent resale restrictions hurt either of these two properties a lot right now and both are certainly discounted on the resale market versus direct pricing. I believe Copper Creek direct is about to jump in price once it 'sells out'.

Another issue with how you plan to use it is if you're thinking mainly studios, or something else. CCV requires a 2BR to sleep 5. BLT requires a 1BR. Both studios are very small and sleep 4. You should never assume getting a Standard View studio at BLT even at 11 months, and in fall, people have been unable to even book a studio at CCV at 11 months due to the small number of units and demand, leaving them to fight it out at 7 months for whatever is left elsewhere.

CCV studios are an 11-month booking year round. 11 months from yesterday is generally unavailable most of the year right now.

With the size of both those contract and technically speaking 200 points to use at any given time for each (borrowing from the next year) I would say this is a decent approach. My wife and I originally bought 160 resale from AKV and then added 50 direct at AKV and 50 resale at GFV. Looking back now I wish we had purchased the direct points elsewhere to give us more flexibility at the 11 month window.
