How do you ladies feel about ordering a dress online? just curious. :)

I don't know about this....Sometimes you really like a dress when you see in online or in a magazine but then when you get it on....it doesn't look the same. Maybe if you've already tried that dress on and know the designer, size and style but I really wouldn't recommend it.

If i knew i liked the dress and knew the size i wanted would fit then yes i would buy it no problems!

The dress i ended up buying was nothing like what i thought id get - what i wanted didnt look as great on as i thought!

im scared to only cause Ive heard exactly what some posters are saying....its not the same dress...

I found a place in chicago that is a secondhand type of bridal shop that looks neat...im gonna check it out

well see, but I would really research it well & ask questions via email before you send any $$...that way you have back up in case things come back wrong
:)

I've been reading this great book "Bridal Bargains" by Denise and Alan Fields, and they have a whole section about buying gowns online. They also have a website with lots of info at www.bridalbargainsbook.com - and their other website www.bridalgowns.com includes a 'bridal gown quote' service where you plug in the dress you want and stores get back to you with their best prices.
Pretty snazzy, I love this book.

I bought my gown off ebay sight unseen (other than a picture) it was custom made for me and so I changed a few of the things that were in the picture. I was super nervous but once I had it in my hands I was beyond in love. If you know what you want or what you're looking for go for it. If not shop around. :)

I bought my dress on ebay. I found the dress I wanted before trying anything on. I tried on the dress and fell in love with the dress but not the price. I looked for other dresses and nothing else took my breath away like my dress.

I watched for it on ebay and won. I got the dress and you can tell it hasn't even been tried on before.

I posted the same question myself about six months ago... and got the same responses you see above. However, I did decide to buy my dress online, and I was very happy with my decision.

I was not pleased with the dresses I had tried on in person. While I thought most of them looked decent enough on me, I wasn't crazy about any of them. Plus, I wasn't wild about spending $600 plus. So I shopped around online, at first just to get an idea of what I wanted. I found one that was exactly what I was looking for. This is it:

I figured that the worst case scenario, I could return it and just lose a 10% restocking fee. I took my measurements according to the site's guidelines and the dress arrived within a few days. I tried it on and it fit perfectly. No alterations needed!

Everyone loved my dress. No one could tell I bought it without trying it on, or that I paid half the price I would have in a store!

My advice is to try things on in a store to get an idea of what you like and what looks good. It can't hurt to shop around online.

i bought my dress from juliusbridal.com. i first tried on all different style dresses to know how each style fit me. then i researched the company. this online company has been very well received and highly recommended by weddingchannel.com brides. my dress is the most beautiful dress! i love it! the fit is PERFECT! the bead work is amazing. sometimes i just look at the dress in awe. it it more beautiful than i remember every time i look at it. i love that i bought my dress online.

Don't do it. I worked at a bridal salon for 2 years and helped some 200 brides find their dresses. A number of them had originally ordered dresses online thinking they were getting a real bargain, and were terribly dissapointed in what they got. I'm not saying that happens to every girl, but I've bailed out enough brides at the last minute to advise against it. You should always order from a salon that allows you to try on the gown first and is an authorized retailer of that designer. You can find out if the store is authorized on the designer's website. If it's not, look elsewhere.
