I have 2 resale DVC's- Saratoga (Oct use year) and BLT (Dec. use year. I was contemplating adding on more points and 50-75 points. Do you recommend I buy at Saratoga and try to get an Oct. or Dec. use year? I feel like I may be juggling too much if I have a different 3rd resort w/ a different use year, but I'm not sure what other's have experienced. The 50-75 points that I'm thinking to add on is primarily for the sole purpose of just getting more points. The resorts I'm contemplating are Saratoga, Old Key West (try to find a 2057 expiration) or Board walk which I love bc its's near Epcot and HS, but I'm on the fence bc of the 2042. Are there any resorts with an expiration date later than 2042 that are really close to epcot/HS?

With closing costs and higher per point cost, I'm not sure I'd buy a 50 point contract at all mathematically. I'd rent points for a trip here and there and shuffle my points around differently.

I do think there's a mathematical argument for selling the SSR at the current crazy prices and buying a "better" resort if you have a longer timeframe or care about the booking advantage. I would trade my SSR for BLT if not for taxes on the gain. Maybe it makes sense for you to trade in for BW?

I agree - for 50 points, it might be worth playing around with renting, transferring, banking/borrowing for a bit to see if you really really need the points.

That said, if you really want to add a few points I'd do the cheapest that matches a current home/UY (ie SSR Oct or BLT Dec)
UNLESS - I have a soft spot for BWV as well - $150 pp x 50 points is around $7500 + closing costs, which in the fall might be enough for its own F&W trip (or a split stay). IF you decide to go to a 3rd resort, primarily for use at that resort, I would match one of your current UY (Maybe SSR)

If you're considering making an offer on a BWV contract, take a look at the Jan 2022 ROFR report and the ROFR thread--Disney seems to have increased the rate and price of ROFR actions for the 2042 properties, especially BWV.
If you have your heart set on acquiring 50 pts there you may want to make an offer ABOVE the seller's asking price to increase your chances of it not getting snapped up by Disney...

Lol--and no, I'm not a BWV owner trying to drive up the bids on a current listing...

The advantage of BWV is that if you buy there, you'll have a chance to book their Standard View rooms, which I consider to be the single best value at WDW DVC resorts. BWV puts you within walking distance of two theme parks, while Standard Views cost 1/3 less than similar rooms at BCV and BWV. (Also nearly half of points of rooms at RIV, VGF, and Poly.) Remember though, only about 10% of the rooms at BWV are Standard View. These book quickly. Do not buy at BWV if you expect to always get a Standard View Studio.

The 2042 expiration date is a huge deal but I suspect most are not particularly worried about where they are going to vacation in 20 years.

We go to WDW 4-6 times a year, and recently added 100 points at VGF to make sure that one of our trips every year could be there. We typically go for only 4 nights per trip, and 100 points is plenty for our need.

I'm not sure what you plan to do with another 50-75 points. It's not going to get you a week for most of the year. (A BWV Standard View room requires 71 points in September, the least-expensive month.) Based on what you described so far, I'd add the points at one of your existing DVCs for the same UY as what you already have.

Now I am worried. Wife and I are in the rofr wait time for a 200 point contract at $130 per point. At boardwalk

Although it's not boardwalk. I had a Saratoga 200 point contract fully loaded pass at $128 per point in October. I was surprised Disney didn't take it...so you never know. Fingers crossed for you.

Very interesting. I own BWV and SSR and currently debating adding on at BLT :)

Riviera is the best bet if you want a longer end date than BWV and BC but personally I am not a fan of the point charts, reliance on Skyliner, and the resale restrictions. If the Skyliner goes down, then I’d basically be staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge without the animals.

I like BWV. If you’re willing to book the second the 11 month window opens, you are usually able to get SV studios. If you wait any longer than that though you’ll find the first day is usually no longer available. But if you’re willing to walk a few days, SV is doable as an owner there. Sadly I missed out today on Jan 7, 2022 in either SV or Boardwalk view. Will see if a walker drops it tomorrow.

I’d personally add on at SSR if you aren’t absolutely set on buying Boardwalk. The points are cheap, the contract length is decent, and you can usually trade in somewhere else at 7 months if you’re open to potentially a split stay. I’m using my SSR contract to stay at GF and BC in a month so I’m pretty thrilled!

If you are planning to use the additional points along with what you already have for the same vacation do NOT get a third use year. IMO, that is more important than choice of resort.

I have 3 resale contracts (no direct). My one stipulation when looking for my 3rd was that I wanted the same use year. Having all different use years would be pretty confusing to make points and trips align.

I would not do that - contracts keep coming up and we have gotten all of our resale contracts (3) at well below the reported ROFR average price, and they were not stripped contracts either. (that said, for 50-75 points, a $10/pp difference is $500-750. Still nothing to sneeze at, and is a year's worth of dues.)

Good luck!
We were in the ROFR process for VGF when DVC raised direct prices. They would have made ~$60 pp if they'd taken our contract, and like small children feel when their parents do anything, I had somehow thought that they raised direct prices just so they could make a bigger profit by taking our contract. (I know) But they didn't, and it passed. Now that I look back, our BLT contract was $80 below direct prices and they were taking similar contracts, but somehow ours passed. So ... nothing to do but wait with fingers crossed. They can't take them all, and I already had backup candidates to make an offer if they took our contracts, and it never came to that.

Agree! We have 2 UYs but use the contracts separately for different times of the year. We travel often in August so our Feb and Aug UY cover that pretty well. Then for winter holidays we use the August UY contract(s), and if we travel in April we use the Feb UY contracts.

I just had a friend have 2 contracts taken at boardwalk- they offered $140/point on a 200 point contract and $160/point on a 170 point contract. ROFR exercised on both! I can't believe the $160/point didnt get through

By any chance do you know when they had been sent to disney, or how mamy days they were under ROFR review?
