Can I go to the Disney Store and buy park tickets now for a trip in February 2007? I didn't think so, but a neighbor told me I could. Anyone have an idea how much it would save me to buy them this year if I can?

I am not sure about the Disney store, but Ticketmania.com has some good deals on tickets. I bought ours from them already for our trip next October. As long as you don't use any days right now, they are good until whenever you can use them. I bought mine before the last price increase, and I have heard there is going to be another increase in January, and possibly another one in the summer of 2007. So, I probably saved tons of money doing it this way!

I believe if you buy your tickets now, they are good for whenever you choose to use them. Just like if you have the old tickets (before MYW) and had days left on them, you can still use them whenever.
As far as how much you will save by buying them now, that all depends on what type of price increase they may institute in the future. If you buy your tickets now, and then prices go up in January (just an example, I have no idea if/when they will be going up) and travel in February, you would not be subject to pay the increase.

You can use days now if you purchase the non expiry option on the tickets. I purchased 10 day non expiry park hopper plus tickets for our trip in December. We still have a couple of days left on our existing tickets we purchased in 2004. So we will be using a few days from our 2006 purchase, and they will be good until we use them up..

Even if you don't activate them until 2007, they will still be good. Mousesavers had a small discount at the two brokers they endorse. If you sign up now for their free newsletter, you can use the link (you must use the link to get the discount) in the newsletter that comes out on the 15th of every month. I checked a couple of places, including the link on the disboards, and found that the link through the mousesaver newsletter was the cheapest deal. And I got a free promotional pin, too. :teeth:

You can buy any ticket (expiring or non expiring) now and not use them until next year (or later). The 14 day expiration (if thats what you purchase) does not start until the card is first used to enter a park... so expiration has nothing to do with when you buy it. In fact, before the 14 day expiration was introduced, all WDW tix never expired. In fact, I have a few days on some park hoppers that are several years old... And they are still good tix.

It actually makes sense to buy tix now for next year as the tix will invariably cost more then.

The only restriction on such an old tix is that you can not use them to enter a park that did not exist when the ticket was purchased. Therefore if you bought a 7 day pass before Animal Kingdom was opened and had a few days remaining in the ticket you could not use that ticket to enter Animal Kingdom now.

Note the back of the ticket shows the day you purchased the ticket.

In fact, I just purchased some discount tix from Employee Relations at my job (I get a discount as I work for a firm that has a major business relationship with Disney). And the date on the back of the tix I just bought were from 2005 (which is fine by me as the discount I got was based on the old price).

You will see some real old tix for sale on ebay that are still valid (including the old ticket bookets with the A thru E tickets). And I hear that if you have those tickets that disney somehow converts them into "days" on the new ticket stock.

I hope I didnt confuse you with all these facts.

Slight clarification needed, when I said the tickets will work the same way, that means when used as-is. Ability to modify or trade up a ticket has been taken away from various older tickets at different times, for example nowadays partially used tickets printed before 2005 may no longer be modified or traded up.

Thus you cannot predict if there might be future ticket offerings that are more cost effective for some vacation schedules compared with the tickets you stocked up on in 2006.

It isn't the ride tickets themselves (the A thru E tickets) that are converted, it's the MK admission ticket that came with those books. If the books are missing the admission ticket, then the books are not valid for admissions.

As far as the other old tickets go, they are worth a one for one swap for one of today's tickets. If the old ticket was a single park ticket, you get a one day one park ticket (good at all 4 theme parks) today. If it was a ticket that allowed park hopping, you get the equivilent number of days as a new hopper ticket.

Just keep in mind that any packages Disney offers require purchasing tickets as part of the package. So, if you buy tickets now and then decide you want a package (such as the meal plan), you will still have to purchase at least a 1 day ticket for everyone as part of the package.
