Buying 2 points for a reservation

I found out something today. I am going to Disney over the 2013 Christmas holidays for 10 days so I needed to borrow my 2014 points but am still 2 points short. Today was my first booking date at the 11 month mark so I went to book from Dec 19'th throught the 29'th and buy 2 points to fill out the reservation. I then found out that I can only buy points at the 7 month window..... so I guess that I will probally only do 9 days as there will be no rooms left at my home resort (VWL) when it comes to the 7 month timeframe as Christmas there is popular. Just thought that I would let others know.

You can also see if you can find another VWL owner willing to transfer those points into your account using the DVC Rent/Trade Board. You could then use those points to complete your reservation within the 11 month priority. You might also be able to find another VWL owner willing to reserve that last day for you or perhaps www.DVCrequest.com, a DIS advertiser, could assist with the additional day which could be linked to your reservation.

You never know. The points are so high at Christmas, there might be availability at 7 months. You can't waitlist purchased points.

You never know. Christmas 2012 our dates were 12/19-12/27. VWL was available in a 1 BR for all dates at the 7 month mark. Almost switched... But we had BLT booked and figured if we were going to stay in the MK area, we'd rather be at BLT. So we ended up switching to BWV. Lol. Moral of the story: always check at 7 months!
