Tracy: The cubes are one of our favorite souvenirs!!

I found out about them right here on the boards, but I don't see them mentioned very often. In Shutters, they do have small displays cases with the cubes in them but they don't put much effort into promoting them.
Here's how it works: You have to ask or find out WHEN (which day and time) they are going to have the special 3D camera set up to take the pictures. I can't remember if we had an appointment, or if we just showed up during a time period when the 3D photographer was set up. I think we just went during the time period that the 3D photographer had the camera out.
You are able to see what the image looks like on the photographer's laptop. I have to warn you, you don't look great in a line-drawn 3D sketch on a laptop. lol It's a bit weird the first time you see it! LOL But the photographer will take a few different shots of you, then you can decide which one you want to use. He will explain to you which ones he thinks would produce the best image. We had ours taken on formal night, that's why DSs and DH are in their suits, and I'm in a white dress. He said the contrasting colors of the black and white made for good images.
After you choose which image you want for the cube(s), the photographer will tell when the cubes will be ready. I forget if they were ready the next day after 5pm, or a couple of days later. I think it was a couple of days later. Then you can decide if you want to buy a base for the cubes or not. The cubes alone would probably make nice paper weights, but we liked the look of the cubes on the base that lights up, and rotates. We got the base that lights up in multi-colors (it changes color as it rotates). The base is also mirrored, so it really shows off the cube very well!
On the evening that they are ready, you take your receipt to Shutters and they show you the cube, then you pay for it. You are given the base (in a separate box) at this time, too. The cube itself comes in a very nice box. I think it has some kind of blue satiny material on the outside and it snaps shut, and the inside is thick sponge to protect the cube.
We thought the images in our cubes came out GREAT!!! We were very happy with the results and our only regret is that we didn't have separate ones made up of DSs.
As for the price, our cubes are the "medium" size, and they cost $59.99 (I think!). I know for sure that each cube PLUS the base cost $99.99. So it cost us $200 total for both cubes and both bases which we thought was quite reasonable for something that can't be duplicated or bought just anywhere. There were smaller and larger cubes but the medium size (6" X 6" I think) was the most popular, according to the photographer. I don't remember the exact cost, but I remember thinking to myself that the cost of the small cube alone was very affordable.
I really love the cubes because of the 3D image, and it's like capturing a moment in time, in 3D!!

When we have company people are always drawn to the cubes and ask me where we got them, etc. They are very unique!
