We are leaving on the 26th driving to Univeral for next Monday - Friday.

I just calculated all the cost and I am applauled to realize how much this is going to cost. For $2000 on just tickets and hotel, I bet I could have done Disney instead. But it is too late to change now.

Since we are staying on site Monday - Thursday night, what is the best way to eat cheap? Our party is me DW, kids are 15, 12 and 9.

I figure we are paying $200 per day for FOTL. Is that worth it?

There's I-drive right around the corner from Universal. It shouldn't take you more than 5 mins to get to a decent place to eat. The hardest part is walking out of city walk... out to the garage... trying to figure out which road they dump you on... Alright, well I don't know how it works getting from the hotels there.
I just went there the yesterday, and we stopped at the KFC outside the gates, then went to sonic after closing. Of course the park was closing at 7pm, next week the up the hours.

But for those really really long days you plan on being there the whole day, the meal plan might be a decent idea for a couple of days. But i couldn't imagine having that every day. At least with Disney Dining plan there's a million places to eat out that's different.

Leaving in the car is a good idea I had written off. But I am sure we can find something on I drive.

If you're going to be here next week, it's definitely worth it. The crowds will be insane starting 12/26 and w/o unlimited Express access, you're going to be spending most of your time waiting in lines.

SONIC! That's my way to eat cheap and I love the food! Unfortunately, we don't have one here, but then again, I couldn't see the carhops skating the food out in the middle of the tundra here in Buffalo, NY! Although, they could wear ice skates! ;)

Volcano nachos at Margaritaville are huge and cheap. I also find the pizza at Sal's Deli to be very reasonably priced and delicious.

When I was there the kongest wait was for Rock It. we got in line at the start of the parade at 5pm, maybe like 5:20 and waited about two hours, we got off with 5 mins till close and the line was 150mins long. I felt bad for the cast working there

What's on I-drive for a full breakfast? I'd love to skip the RPR's $17/person buffet, but I know we'll want a day or two with eggs and bacon.

There's an IHOP across Kirkman Road from Universal. There's also a location on 6005 International Drive...both locations are open 24 hours a day.

Forgot to mention there is a Denny's Diner further north on Kirkman Road that's very good and a location at 5825 International Drive.

There's also a Cracker Barrel and TGIF(?) off of Caravan Court right across from the Kirkman entrance. There was a Dennys onsite a Days Inn but it'snow an Indian restaurant. Oh yeah a Golden Correl down the street (kirkman). :thumbsup2

If you go to international drive there are sooo many place that are cheap for meals. We would take a cab to international drive and walk it till we found one that looked interesting and shopped along the way too.

there's a cici's pizza (5.99 all you can eat pizza and pasta), there was a buffet place that was 7.99 that was great and our kids asked to go back. I don't remember the name but it was the first buffet place when you turned right onto international drive from Universal.

There was also a sizzlers I believe and ponderosa. Lots to chose from.
