Anyone use them? I am in the process of planning a non-Disney  cruise for my 30th anniversary (Dec '04). DH and I have never done a cruise.

So, any experiences with BuyCruises.com or other online cruise booking services?

I have been very satisfied with them so far -- we've booked our April 2004 cruise with them. Check out cruisecritic.com message boards for your particular cruise line and post this same question. I've never seen a bad comment on those boards for buycruises yet.

[we've been dealing with Dawn at buycruise]
:D

Thanks, Jody. I just started checking out the Cruise Critic message boards today. Haven't seen anything about BuyCruises.com there yet but then I didn't get too far into it. I did see mention of a couple of similar sites. Guess I need to get registered over there and jump in.

Thanks again! :)

We booked our cruise through another online agency and have been really pleased. When the price went down after we booked, we got a credit for the lower price. I'll probably get in trouble if I post the name here, but feel free to PM or email me if you are interested in the name.

By the way, Cruise Critic is a great website for lots of info--a lot of friendly people too.

I generally search the web, find the best price and then call the TA that I have been working with for several cruises at Cruise.com and she always does better than the best internet price I find. I have found Cruise.com to be dependable, the documents arrive on time and I have always gotton a refund if the cruise price goes down before sailing. I also like having someone I can "talk" to.

I've always heard good things about buycruises.com on the cruise critic message boards. I've checked them periodically, and their pricing seems to be pretty good too!

I was just surfing the RCCL Cruise Critic message boards and found this post concerning Buycruises.com . I didn't read all of the posts --- but it seems to be the information you are looking for.
:D

Thanks to all for the replies! And a special thanks to Jody for the link. BuyCruises.com has the best price I've found so far so I will probably go with them but I am still researching.

It's fun planning a non-Disney trip for a change although DH is getting a little annoyed with me since we have a WDW trip coming up soon and I'm asking him all these questions about what he wants in a cruise in 15 months. Men, they just don't get it!! :p ;)

Aprille, Take that price you have from Buycruises and call a TA and negotiate. They are $100 more pp than what I am paying for my April cruise. The lowest price you find on the internet doesn't have to be the lowest price you pay.

Dawn, I am planning on calling several places to compare prices as I have read that the online price is usually a little higher than when you call. The online price for my cruise is exactly the same at BuyCruises.com and cruise.com.

Check out the new countdown clock. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Called BuyCruises yesterday and booked a non-Disney  cruise for our 30th anniversary in Dec '04. My TA is a nice young man who was very personable and knowledgeable and made the booking process a breeze. We got the specific cabin we wanted - aft corner jr suite with huge wraparound balcony. :smooth:

He gave me his extension # and told me his days off and said to call him with any questions or changes. I was very pleased with the service. We got a better deal than the web rate. He said you should always call to book as they can check all promotions and almost always get a better rate.

Just thought some would like to know how it came out. (Plus I was bustin’ at the seams to show off the new countdown clock!) :p ;)

Thanks, Jody! :)

We're sailing RCCL too - Rhapsody out of Galveston. We live less than 40 miles away which is why we chose it for our first cruise. My dream cruise is Alaska. That will be next on the list if we love cruising as much as I think we will. ;)

Anyone considering taking a non-Disney cruise should check out the Cruise Critic message boards. They are the DIS-equivalent for cruise info. And even larger, if you can imagine, with more than 76,000 members!! I didn't know there was an internet message board with more members than DIS!!! :p
